1 Se yon chante Asaf. Pèp mwen yo, koute sa m’ap moutre nou! Louvri zòrèy nou pou n’ tande sa m’ap di!
2 Mwen pral pale ak nou, pou m’ fè nou konnen sa ki te pase nan tan lontan,
3 bagay nou te tande nan zòrèy nou, bagay nou tout te konnen, bagay zansèt nou yo te konn rakonte nou.
4 Nou p’ap kache bagay sa yo pou pitit nou yo pa konnen yo. N’ap fè lwanj Seyè a devan timoun k’ap vini yo. N’ap fè yo konnen jan l’ gen pouvwa, jan l’ gen fòs, jan li fè gwo mèvèy.
5 Li te di pèp Izrayèl la sa pou li fè. Li te bay pitit pitit Jakòb yo kòmandman li yo. Li te mande zansèt nou yo pou yo te moutre pitit yo lalwa Bondye a,
6 pou timoun ki fenk fèt yo ka konnen l’, pou yo menm tou, lè yo grandi, yo ka fè pitit pa yo konnen l’.
7 Konsa yo menm tou, y’a mete konfyans yo nan Bondye. Yo p’ap bliye sa li te fè. Y’a toujou obeyi kòmandman li yo.
8 Konsa yo p’ap tankou zansèt yo ki te fè tèt ak Bondye, ki te derefize fè sa li te mande yo fè, ki pa t’ janm gen yon konfyans fèm nan Bondye, ki pa t’ kenbe pawòl yo ak Bondye.
9 Pitit Efrayim yo se moun ki konn goumen, ki fò nan tire flèch. Men, yo kouri lè batay mare.
10 Yo pa t’ kenbe kontra Bondye te pase ak yo a. Yo derefize fè sa li te mande yo fè.
11 Yo fè espre, yo bliye sa li te fè, tout mèvèy li te fè yo wè.
12 Wi, se devan je zansèt yo Bondye te fè mirak nan peyi Lejip, nan plenn Zoan an.
13 Li fann lanmè a an de, li fè yo pase nan mitan l’. Li fè dlo yo kanpe dwat tankou miray.
14 Pou l’ moutre yo chemen pou yo pran, lajounen li ba yo yon nwaj, lannwit li ba yo yon dife ki t’ap mache devan yo.
15 Li fann gwo wòch nan dezè a, li ba yo kont dlo pou yo bwè.
16 Li fè sous dlo pete nan wòch la, li fè dlo koule tankou dlo larivyè.
17 Men, yo pa t’ sispann fè peche kont Bondye, yo revòlte dèyè Bondye ki anwo nan syèl la, lè yo te nan dezè a.
18 Yo te vle sonde Bondye: yo mande pou l’ ba yo manje yo te vle manje a.
19 Yo pale Bondye mal, yo di: -Eske Bondye ka mete manje sou tab nan mitan dezè sa a?
20 Wi, se vre. Li frape wòch la: Dlo koule kou larivyè. Men, èske li kapab ban nou pen? Eske li ka bay pèp li a vyann?
21 Lè Seyè a tande sa, li fè kòlè. Se te tankou yon dife li te limen dèyè pitit Jakòb yo. Li vin ankòlè anpil sou yo,
22 paske yo pa t’ gen konfyans nan Bondye, yo pa t’ kwè li ta kapab delivre yo.
23 Li pale ak nwaj yo ki anwo nan syèl la, li ba yo lòd pou yo louvri pòt syèl la.
24 Li grennen laman sou yo pou yo manje. Li ba yo manje farin ki soti nan syèl la.
25 Se konsa, yo manje manje zanj Bondye yo. Li ba yo manje pou yo manje plen vant yo.
26 Lèfini, li fè yon van lès soufle nan syèl la. Avèk pouvwa li, li fè yon van leve soti nan sid.
27 Li grennen vyann sou yo tankou pousyè. Li fè zwazo soti nan syèl la tonbe atè, tankou sab bò lanmè.
28 Li fè yo tonbe nan mitan kote yo te rete a, tout bò kay yo.
29 Yo tout te manje plen vant yo. Bondye ba yo tou sa yo te anvi.
30 Men, yo pa t’ ankò fin manje, yo pa t’ ankò fin plen vant yo, manje a te nan bouch yo toujou,
31 lè Bondye fache sou yo. Li touye pi gwonèg nan mitan yo, li kraze tout jenn gason nan peyi Izrayèl la.
32 Atousa, pèp la donnen pi rèd nan fè peche. Yo pa t’ vle kwè nan mirak sa yo.
33 Se konsa, li fè lavi yo disparèt tankou lafimen. Li sezi yo, yo mouri frèt.
34 Li te fè detwa ladan yo mouri. Se lè sa a yo tounen vin jwenn li, yo chanje lavi yo, yo lapriyè nan pye li.
35 Yo vin chonje se Bondye ki te pwoteksyon yo. Se Bondye anwo nan syèl la ki te delivre yo.
36 Men, tout bèl pawòl sa yo, se te manti. Tou sa yo t’ap di a, se te pawòl nan bouch.
37 Yo pa t’ sensè avè li, yo pa t’ kenbe kontra li te pase ak yo.
38 Men, paske Bondye te gen pitye pou yo, li padonnen peche yo, li pa t’ touye yo. Anpil fwa menm, li kenbe, li pa t’ fè kòlè sou yo. Li pa t’ kite kòlè l’ tonbe sou yo.
39 Li chonje se moun yo ye, se pase y’ap pase tankou van k’ap soufle.
40 Men, se pa ni de ni twa fwa yo te leve dèyè li nan dezè a! Se pa ni de ni twa fwa yo te fè l’ fè kòlè!
41 Se tout tan yo t’ap tante Seyè a! Se tout tan yo t’ap pwovoke Bondye pèp Izrayèl la, ki yon Bondye apa!
42 Yo bliye jan li gen pouvwa. Yo bliye lè li te sove yo anba lènmi yo,
43 lè li te fè gwo mirak ak bèl mèvèy nan peyi Lejip, nan plenn Zoan an.
44 Li fè dlo larivyè yo tounen san. Pesonn pa t’ ka bwè dlo sa yo.
45 Li voye mouchavè sou yo pou devore yo. Li voye krapo pou detwi yo.
46 Li voye krikèt vèt pou manje rekòt yo, chwalbwa pou devore tout jaden yo.
47 Li touye pye rezen yo ak lagrèl, li touye pye sikomò yo ak fredi.
48 Li touye tout bèt jaden nan savann yo ak lagrèl, li touye bann mouton yo ak loray.
49 Li te ankòlè anpil sou yo, li te move, li te fache. Li fè anpil malè tonbe sou yo. Li voye yon lame zanj pou detwi yo.
50 Li kite kòlè l’ pase sou yo, li pa t’ sove lavi yo yonn. Li lage yon epidemi ki t’ap fini ak yo.
51 Li touye tout premye pitit gason ki nan peyi Lejip la, tout premye pitit gason nan laras Kam lan.
52 Lèfini, tankou yon bann mouton, li mennen pèp li ale, li kondi yo nan mitan dezè a.
53 Li mennen yo san danje san malè. Yo pa t’ bezwen pè anyen. Men, lanmè a te kouvri tout lènmi yo.
54 Li fè yo rive sou fwontyè peyi li te chwazi pou li a, toupre mòn li te pran ak fòs kouraj li a.
55 Li mete lòt nasyon yo deyò pou bay pèp li a plas. Li separe tè a, li bay chak branch fanmi Izrayèl la pa yo. Li kite yo moute kay yo kote lènmi yo te rete.
56 Men, yo kenbe tèt ak Bondye ki gen tout pouvwa a. Yo t’ap wè jouk ki bò li te ye ak yo: Yo pa fè sa li te mande yo fè!
57 Yo pa kenbe pawòl yo. Yo vire do ba li tankou zansèt yo te fè. Yo pati sou move pye, yo mal derape.
58 Yo fè l’ fache paske yo bati tanp pou lòt bondye yo, yo pòte l’ fè jalouzi poutèt vye zidòl yo.
59 Bondye fache lè li wè sa. Se konsa li voye pèp Izrayèl la jete.
60 Li kite kay li te genyen Silo a, kote li t’ap viv pami moun sou latè a.
61 Li kite lènmi yo pran Bwat Kontra a, ki te garanti pouvwa li ak fòs li nan mitan yo, li kite yo pote l’ ale.
62 Li te fache nèt sou pèp li a, li kite lènmi touye yo nan lagè.
63 Jenn gason yo mouri nan dife. Jenn fi yo pa jwenn pesonn pou marye ak yo.
64 Tout prèt yo mouri anba kout nepe. Vèv yo pa t’ kriye pou yo.
65 Se lè sa a Seyè a leve, tankou si li t’ap leve nan dòmi. Li parèt tankou yon vanyan gason ki anba gwòg li.
66 Li frape lènmi yo, li fè yo kouri. Li fè yo wont pou tout tan.
67 Li voye pitit Jozèf yo jete, li pa t’ chwazi branch fanmi Efrayim lan.
68 Li chwazi branch fanmi Jida a pito, ansanm ak mòn Siyon li renmen anpil lan.
69 Se la li bati tanp li a ki pòtre ak kay li nan syèl la. Li fè l’ solid tankou latè, pou tout tan.
70 Li te chwazi David, yon moun ki t’ap sèvi l’. Li wete l’ dèyè mouton li t’ap okipe yo,
71 dèyè manman mouton ki gen pitit dèyè yo, li fè l’ wa sou pitit Jakòb yo. Li mete l’ gadò pèp Izrayèl la.
72 David pran swen yo ak tout kè li. Li kondi yo avèk anpil ladrès.

Psaumes 78
1 Cantique d’Asaph. Mon peuple, écoute mes instructions! Prêtez l’oreille aux paroles de ma bouche!
2 J’ouvre la bouche par des sentences, Je publie la sagesse des temps anciens.
3 Ce que nous avons entendu, ce que nous savons, Ce que nos pères nous ont raconté,
4 Nous ne le cacherons point à leurs enfants; Nous dirons à la génération future les louanges de l’Éternel, Et sa puissance, et les prodiges qu’il a opérés.
5 Il a établi un témoignage en Jacob, Il a mis une loi en Israël, Et il a ordonné à nos pères de l’enseigner à leurs enfants,
6 Pour qu’elle fût connue de la génération future, Des enfants qui naîtraient, Et que, devenus grands, ils en parlassent à leurs enfants,
7 Afin qu’ils missent en Dieu leur confiance, Qu’ils n’oubliassent pas les oeuvres de Dieu, Et qu’ils observassent ses commandements,
8 Afin qu’ils ne fussent pas, comme leurs pères, Une race indocile et rebelle, Une race dont le coeur n’était pas ferme, Et dont l’esprit n’était pas fidèle à Dieu.
9 Les fils d’Éphraïm, armés et tirant de l’arc, Tournèrent le dos le jour du combat.
10 Ils ne gardèrent point l’alliance de Dieu, Et ils refusèrent de marcher selon sa loi.
11 Ils mirent en oubli ses oeuvres, Ses merveilles qu’il leur avait fait voir.
12 Devant leurs pères il avait fait des prodiges, Au pays d’Égypte, dans les campagnes de Tsoan.
13 Il fendit la mer et leur ouvrit un passage, Il fit dresser les eaux comme une muraille.
14 Il les conduisit le jour par la nuée, Et toute la nuit par un feu éclatant.
15 Il fendit des rochers dans le désert, Et il donna à boire comme des flots abondants;
16 Du rocher il fit jaillir des sources, Et couler des eaux comme des fleuves.
17 Mais ils continuèrent à pécher contre lui, A se révolter contre le Très Haut dans le désert.
18 Ils tentèrent Dieu dans leur coeur, En demandant de la nourriture selon leur désir.
19 Ils parlèrent contre Dieu, Ils dirent: Dieu pourrait-il Dresser une table dans le désert?
20 Voici, il a frappé le rocher, et des eaux ont coulé, Et des torrents se sont répandus; Pourra-t-il aussi donner du pain, Ou fournir de la viande à son peuple?
21 L’Éternel entendit, et il fut irrité; Un feu s’alluma contre Jacob, Et la colère s’éleva contre Israël,
22 Parce qu’ils ne crurent pas en Dieu, Parce qu’ils n’eurent pas confiance dans son secours.
23 Il commanda aux nuages d’en haut, Et il ouvrit les portes des cieux;
24 Il fit pleuvoir sur eux la manne pour nourriture, Il leur donna le blé du ciel.
25 Ils mangèrent tous le pain des grands, Il leur envoya de la nourriture à satiété.
26 Il fit souffler dans les cieux le vent d’orient, Et il amena par sa puissance le vent du midi;
27 Il fit pleuvoir sur eux la viande comme de la poussière, Et comme le sable des mers les oiseaux ailés;
28 Il les fit tomber au milieu de leur camp, Tout autour de leurs demeures.
29 Ils mangèrent et se rassasièrent abondamment: Dieu leur donna ce qu’ils avaient désiré.
30 Ils n’avaient pas satisfait leur désir, Ils avaient encore leur nourriture dans la bouche,
31 Lorsque la colère de Dieu s’éleva contre eux; Il frappa de mort les plus vigoureux, Il abattit les jeunes hommes d’Israël.
32 Malgré tout cela, ils continuèrent à pécher, Et ne crurent point à ses prodiges.
33 Il consuma leurs jours par la vanité, Et leurs années par une fin soudaine.
34 Quand il les frappait de mort, ils le cherchaient, Ils revenaient et se tournaient vers Dieu;
35 Ils se souvenaient que Dieu était leur rocher, Que le Dieu Très Haut était leur libérateur.
36 Mais ils le trompaient de la bouche, Et ils lui mentaient de la langue;
37 Leur coeur n’était pas ferme envers lui, Et ils n’étaient pas fidèles à son alliance.
38 Toutefois, dans sa miséricorde, il pardonne l’iniquité et ne détruit pas; Il retient souvent sa colère et ne se livre pas à toute sa fureur.
39 Il se souvint qu’ils n’étaient que chair, Un souffle qui s’en va et ne revient pas.
40 Que de fois ils se révoltèrent contre lui dans le désert! Que de fois ils l’irritèrent dans la solitude!
41 Ils ne cessèrent de tenter Dieu, Et de provoquer le Saint d’Israël.
42 Ils ne se souvinrent pas de sa puissance, Du jour où il les délivra de l’ennemi,
43 Des miracles qu’il accomplit en Égypte, Et de ses prodiges dans les campagnes de Tsoan.
44 Il changea leurs fleuves en sang, Et ils ne purent en boire les eaux.
45 Il envoya contre eux des mouches venimeuses qui les dévorèrent, Et des grenouilles qui les détruisirent.
46 Il livra leurs récoltes aux sauterelles, Le produit de leur travail aux sauterelles.
47 Il fit périr leurs vignes par la grêle, Et leurs sycomores par la gelée.
48 Il abandonna leur bétail à la grêle, Et leurs troupeaux au feu du ciel.
49 Il lança contre eux son ardente colère, La fureur, la rage et la détresse, Une troupe de messagers de malheur.
50 Il donna libre cours à sa colère, Il ne sauva pas leur âme de la mort, Il livra leur vie à la mortalité;
51 Il frappa tous les premiers-nés en Égypte, Les prémices de la force sous les tentes de Cham.
52 Il fit partir son peuple comme des brebis, Il les conduisit comme un troupeau dans le désert.
53 Il les dirigea sûrement, pour qu’ils fussent sans crainte, Et la mer couvrit leurs ennemis.
54 Il les amena vers sa frontière sainte, Vers cette montagne que sa droite a acquise.
55 Il chassa devant eux les nations, Leur distribua le pays en héritage, Et fit habiter dans leurs tentes les tribus d’Israël.
56 Mais ils tentèrent le Dieu Très Haut et se révoltèrent contre lui, Et ils n’observèrent point ses ordonnances.
57 Ils s’éloignèrent et furent infidèles, comme leurs pères, Ils tournèrent, comme un arc trompeur.
58 Ils l’irritèrent par leurs hauts lieux, Et ils excitèrent sa jalousie par leurs idoles.
59 Dieu entendit, et il fut irrité; Il repoussa fortement Israël.
60 Il abandonna la demeure de Silo, La tente où il habitait parmi les hommes;
61 Il livra sa gloire à la captivité, Et sa majesté entre les mains de l’ennemi.
62 Il mit son peuple à la merci du glaive, Et il s’indigna contre son héritage.
63 Le feu dévora ses jeunes hommes, Et ses vierges ne furent pas célébrées;
64 Ses sacrificateurs tombèrent par l’épée, Et ses veuves ne pleurèrent pas.
65 Le Seigneur s’éveilla comme celui qui a dormi, Comme un héros qu’a subjugué le vin.
66 Il frappa ses adversaires en fuite, Il les couvrit d’un opprobre éternel.
67 Cependant il rejeta la tente de Joseph, Et il ne choisit point la tribu d’Éphraïm;
68 Il préféra la tribu de Juda, La montagne de Sion qu’il aimait.
69 Et il bâtit son sanctuaire comme les lieux élevés, Comme la terre qu’il a fondée pour toujours.
70 Il choisit David, son serviteur, Et il le tira des bergeries;
71 Il le prit derrière les brebis qui allaitent, Pour lui faire paître Jacob, son peuple, Et Israël, son héritage.
72 Et David les dirigea avec un coeur intègre, Et les conduisit avec des mains intelligentes.

Psalm 78
1 Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:
3 Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
4 We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.
5 For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:
6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:
7 That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:
8 And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.
9 The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.
10 They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;
11 And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.
12 Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
13 He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap.
14 In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.
15 He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths.
16 He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.
17 And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness.
18 And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust.
19 Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?
20 Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people?
21 Therefore the Lord heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel;
22 Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation:
23 Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,
24 And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven.
25 Man did eat angels’ food: he sent them meat to the full.
26 He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: and by his power he brought in the south wind.
27 He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea:
28 And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations.
29 So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire;
30 They were not estranged from their lust. But while their meat was yet in their mouths,
31 The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel.
32 For all this they sinned still, and believed not for his wondrous works.
33 Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years in trouble.
34 When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned and enquired early after God.
35 And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.
36 Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues.
37 For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant.
38 But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.
39 For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.
40 How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!
41 Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.
42 They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.
43 How he had wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan.
44 And had turned their rivers into blood; and their floods, that they could not drink.
45 He sent divers sorts of flies among them, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.
46 He gave also their increase unto the caterpiller, and their labour unto the locust.
47 He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycomore trees with frost.
48 He gave up their cattle also to the hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.
49 He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending evil angels among them.
50 He made a way to his anger; he spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence;
51 And smote all the firstborn in Egypt; the chief of their strength in the tabernacles of Ham:
52 But made his own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
53 And he led them on safely, so that they feared not: but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.
54 And he brought them to the border of his sanctuary, even to this mountain, which his right hand had purchased.
55 He cast out the heathen also before them, and divided them an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
56 Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies:
57 But turned back, and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers: they were turned aside like a deceitful bow.
58 For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.
59 When God heard this, he was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel:
60 So that he forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which he placed among men;
61 And delivered his strength into captivity, and his glory into the enemy’s hand.
62 He gave his people over also unto the sword; and was wroth with his inheritance.
63 The fire consumed their young men; and their maidens were not given to marriage.
64 Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows made no lamentation.
65 Then the Lord awaked as one out of sleep, and like a mighty man that shouteth by reason of wine.
66 And he smote his enemies in the hinder parts: he put them to a perpetual reproach.
67 Moreover he refused the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim:
68 But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved.
69 And he built his sanctuary like high palaces, like the earth which he hath established for ever.
70 He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:
71 From following the ewes great with young he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance.
72 So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands.
