Eklezyas 5
1 Gade byen ki jan w’ap mete pye ou lakay Bondye a. Pito ou ale la pou ou ka aprann kichòy pase pou ou al ofri bèt pou touye pou Bondye tankou moun san konprann sa yo ki pa konn sa ki byen ak sa ki mal.
2 Fè tèt ou travay anvan ou louvri bouch ou pale. Pa prese fè ankenn pwomès bay Bondye. Bondye, se nan syèl li ye, ou menm ou sou latè. Pa di plis pase sa ou dwe di a.
3 Plis ou kite bagay chaje tèt ou, se plis ou ka fè move rèv. Plis ou pale anpil, se plis ou ka di pawòl ki pa fè sans menm.
4 Lè ou fè yon pwomès bay Bondye, pa mize fè sa ou pwomèt fè a. Bondye pa nan jwèt ak moun ki san konprann. Sa ou pwomèt fè a, fè l’.
5 Pito ou pa janm pwomèt Bondye w’ap fè kichòy pou li pase pou ou pwomèt, epi pou ou pa kenbe pwomès ou.
6 Pa kite pawòl ki soti nan bouch ou fè ou fè peche. Apre sa pou ou al di reprezantan Bondye a: O wi, se chape bouch mwen chape. Poukisa pou ou ta fè Bondye fache sou ou? Poukisa pou ou ta fè Bondye detwi travay ou fè ak men ou?
7 Tout rèv w’ap plede fè yo, tout pawòl w’ap plede di yo p’ap sèvi ou anyen. Se krentif pou ou toujou genyen pou Bondye.
8 Ou pa bezwen sezi lè ou wè nan yon peyi, chèf ap peze pòv malere. Yo refize rann yo jistis, yo derefize defann dwa inonsan yo. Chak chèf gen yon gwo chèf dèyè l’. Lèfini yo tou de gen yon pi gwo chèf ankò dèyè yo.
9 Travay latè se yon avantaj pou tout moun, ata pou wa a. Se sou sa li konte tou.
10 Si ou renmen lajan, ou p’ap janm fin gen ase. Si w’ap kouri dèyè richès, plis ou genyen, se plis ou anvi genyen toujou. Sa tou, sa pa vo anyen.
11 Plis ou gen lajan, se plis bouch w’ap gen pou bay manje. Sèl benefis ou jwenn nan tou sa, se wè w’a wè ou rich.
12 Yon travayè te mèt manje kont li, li te mèt pa manje kont li, l’ap toujou byen dòmi lannwit. Men, moun rich yo, yo sitèlman genyen, yo pase nwit yo blanch ak kè sote.
13 Men mwen wè sou latè yon bagay ki fè lapenn anpil: Moun sere lajan epi sa vire mal pou yo.
14 Yon malè pase, tout lajan an pèdi. Li vin fè yon pitit, li pa gen anyen pou l’ ba li.
15 Li soti toutouni nan vant manman l’, konsa tou l’ap tounen san anyen anba tè. Pa gen anyen nan tou sa li travay fè li ka pran pote ale ak li.
16 Wi, sa se bagay ki pou fann kè nou ak lapenn: Jan nou vini an, se konsa nou prale. Nou travay, men sa p’ap rapòte nou anyen.
17 Sa ki pi rèd la, nou pase tout lavi nou nan fènwa, nan lapenn, nan kè sere, nan maladi, nan fè kòlè.
18 Men sa mwen jwenn ankò: Pi bon bagay yon moun ka fè sou latè, se manje, se bwè, se jwi sa li travay di fè a, pandan de twa jou Bondye ba li pou li viv la. Men, se sa ase ki pou yon moun nan lavi.
19 Si Bondye bay yon moun richès ak byen, se pou li jwi yo, se pou l’ di Bondye mèsi, se pou l’ jwi tou sa li travay fè. Sa se kado Bondye ba li.
20 Li pa bezwen chonje jan lavi a kout, paske Bondye ba li kont bagay pou l’ fè pou fè kè l’ kontan.

(4:17) Prends garde à ton pied, lorsque tu entres dans la maison de Dieu; approche-toi pour écouter, plutôt que pour offrir le sacrifice des insensés, car ils ne savent pas qu’ils font mal.
2 (5:1) Ne te presse pas d’ouvrir la bouche, et que ton coeur ne se hâte pas d’exprimer une parole devant Dieu; car Dieu est au ciel, et toi sur la terre: que tes paroles soient donc peu nombreuses.
3 (5:2) Car, si les songes naissent de la multitude des occupations, la voix de l’insensé se fait entendre dans la multitude des paroles.
4 (5:3) Lorsque tu as fait un voeu à Dieu, ne tarde pas à l’accomplir, car il n’aime pas les insensés: accomplis le voeu que tu as fait.
5 (5:4) Mieux vaut pour toi ne point faire de voeu, que d’en faire un et de ne pas l’accomplir.
6 (5:5) Ne permets pas à ta bouche de faire pécher ta chair, et ne dis pas en présence de l’envoyé que c’est une inadvertance. Pourquoi Dieu s’irriterait-il de tes paroles, et détruirait-il l’ouvrage de tes mains?
7 (5:6) Car, s’il y a des vanités dans la multitude des songes, il y en a aussi dans beaucoup de paroles; c’est pourquoi, crains Dieu.
8 (5:7) Si tu vois dans une province le pauvre opprimé et la violation du droit et de la justice, ne t’en étonne point; car un homme élevé est placé sous la surveillance d’un autre plus élevé, et au-dessus d’eux il en est de plus élevés encore.
9 (5:8) Un avantage pour le pays à tous égards, c’est un roi honoré du pays.
10 (5:9) Celui qui aime l’argent n’est pas rassasié par l’argent, et celui qui aime les richesses n’en profite pas. C’est encore là une vanité.
11 (5:10) Quand le bien abonde, ceux qui le mangent abondent; et quel avantage en revient-il à son possesseur, sinon qu’il le voit de ses yeux?
12 (5:11) Le sommeil du travailleur est doux, qu’il ait peu ou beaucoup à manger; mais le rassasiement du riche ne le laisse pas dormir.
13 (5:12) Il est un mal grave que j’ai vu sous le soleil: des richesses conservées, pour son malheur, par celui qui les possède.
14 (5:13) Ces richesses se perdent par quelque événement fâcheux; il a engendré un fils, et il ne reste rien entre ses mains.
15 (5:14) Comme il est sorti du ventre de sa mère, il s’en retourne nu ainsi qu’il était venu, et pour son travail n’emporte rien qu’il puisse prendre dans sa main.
16 (5:15) C’est encore là un mal grave. Il s’en va comme il était venu; et quel avantage lui revient-il d’avoir travaillé pour du vent?
17 (5:16) De plus, toute sa vie il mange dans les ténèbres, et il a beaucoup de chagrin, de maux et d’irritation.
18 (5:17) Voici ce que j’ai vu: c’est pour l’homme une chose bonne et belle de manger et de boire, et de jouir du bien-être au milieu de tout le travail qu’il fait sous le soleil, pendant le nombre des jours de vie que Dieu lui a donnés; car c’est là sa part.
19 (5:18) Mais, si Dieu a donné à un homme des richesses et des biens, s’il l’a rendu maître d’en manger, d’en prendre sa part, et de se réjouir au milieu de son travail, c’est là un don de Dieu.
20 (5:19) Car il ne se souviendra pas beaucoup des jours de sa vie, parce que Dieu répand la joie dans son coeur.

Ecclesiastes 5
1 Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.
2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.
3 For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool’s voice is known by multitude of words.
4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.
5 Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.
6 Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands?
7 For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou God.
8 If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.
9 Moreover the profit of the earth is for all: the king himself is served by the field.
10 He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.
11 When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes?
12 The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.
13 There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt.
14 But those riches perish by evil travail: and he begetteth a son, and there is nothing in his hand.
15 As he came forth of his mother’s womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand.
16 And this also is a sore evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit hath he that hath laboured for the wind?
17 All his days also he eateth in darkness, and he hath much sorrow and wrath with his sickness.
18 Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion.
19 Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God.
20 For he shall not much remember the days of his life; because God answereth him in the joy of his heart.
