1 Apre sa, Salomon bay lòd pou tout gwo chèf pèp Izrayèl yo ansanm ak tout chèf branch fanmi yo ak lòt chèf fanmi pèp la vin jwenn li lavil Jerizalèm pou y’ al pran Bwat Kontra Seyè a nan lavil David la, lavil Siyon an, pou yo pote l’ nan Tanp lan.
2 Pandan Fèt Joupa yo nan mwa Etanim lan, setyèm mwa nan kalandriye jwif yo, tout pèp Izrayèl la reyini ansanm ak wa Salomon.
3 Lè tout chèf fanmi pèp Izrayèl yo reyini, prèt yo pran Bwat Kontra a,
4 yo pote l’ nan Tanp lan ansanm ak Tant Randevou Seyè a ak tout bagay ki te apa pou Seyè a nan Tant Randevou a. Se prèt yo ak moun Levi yo ki te pote yo moute.
5 Wa Salomon ansanm ak tout pèp Izrayèl la sanble devan Bwat Kontra a, yo touye bèf, kabrit ak mouton an kantite pou Bondye. Moun pa t’ ka konte konbe bèt yo te touye jou sa a sitèlman yo te anpil.
6 Lè yo fini, prèt yo pote Bwat Kontra a nan pyès ki apa nèt pou Seyè a, yo mete l’ nan mitan de pòtre zanj cheriben yo.
7 Zèl cheriben yo te louvri, yo te kouvri tout kote Bwat Kontra a ye a ansanm ak poto ki sèvi pou pote l’ yo.
8 Si yon moun kanpe sou devan pyès ki apa pou Seyè a, yo ka wè pwent poto yo tèlman yo te long. Men, ou pa ka wè yo lòt kote ankò. Jouk koulye a poto yo la toujou.
9 Nan Bwat Kontra a pa t’ gen pase de moso wòch plat Moyiz te mete ladan l’ yo depi sou Mòn Orèb la. Se sou de wòch sa yo Seyè a te make kontra li te pase avèk moun pèp Izrayèl yo lè yo t’ap soti kite peyi Lejip.
10 Lè prèt yo fè sa y’ap soti nan pyès apa pou Seyè a, nwaj la plen Tanp Seyè a nèt.
11 Poutèt nwaj la prèt yo pa t’ ka rete fè sèvis yo, paske limyè prezans Seyè a te plen Tanp lan nèt.
12 Lèfini, Salomon di konsa: -Seyè, ou di ou pito viv kote ki fè nwa.
13 Koulye a, mwen bati yon tanp pou ou ka rete, yon kay kote ou pral viv pou tout tan.
14 Lèfini, wa a vire, li bay pèp Izrayèl la fas. Tout pèp la te kanpe. Li mande benediksyon Bondye pou pèp la, li di konsa:
15 -Lwanj pou Seyè a, Bondye pèp Izrayèl la. Avèk fòs kouraj li, li kenbe pwomès li te fè David, papa m’, lè li te di l’ konsa:
16 Depi jou mwen te fè pèp mwen an soti kite peyi Lejip, mwen pa janm chwazi yon lavil nan tout peyi pèp Izrayèl la kote pou yo bati yon tanp ladan l’ pou mwen rete. Men, mwen te chwazi David pou li gouvènen pèp mwen an, pèp Izrayèl la.
17 David, papa m’, te fè lide bati yon tanp pou Seyè a, Bondye pèp Izrayèl la.
18 Men, Seyè a te di l’: Ou byen fèt gen lide bati yon tanp pou mwen.
19 Men, se pa ou ki va bati l’. Se pwòp pitit gason w’ap fè a ki va bati Tanp lan pou mwen.
20 Koulye a, Seyè a kenbe pwomès li. Jan li te di l’ la, se mwen ki nan plas David, papa m’. Mwen chita sou fotèy wa a Izrayèl la, mwen bati yon tanp pou Seyè a, Bondye pèp Izrayèl la.
21 Lèfini, mwen fè yon plas ladan l’ pou Bwat Kontra Seyè a ki gen de moso wòch plat kote Seyè a te ekri kontra li te pase ak zansèt nou yo lè li te fè yo soti kite peyi Lejip.
22 Apre sa, Salomon al kanpe devan lotèl Seyè a, devan tout pèp Izrayèl la, li leve de men l’ anlè, li lapriyè Bondye,
23 li di: -Seyè, ou menm ki Bondye pèp Izrayèl la, pa gen Bondye tankou ou ni nan syèl ni sou latè. Ou kenbe kontra ou te pase ak pèp ou a. Ou moutre jan ou renmen moun k’ap sèvi ou ak tout kè yo.
24 Ou te kenbe pwomès ou te fè David, papa m’ lan. Tou sa ou te di, ou fè l’ rive vre jòdi a.
25 Se poutèt sa, Seyè, Bondye pèp Izrayèl la, m’ap mande ou pou ou kenbe lòt pwomès ou te fè David, papa m’, sèvitè ou la, lè ou te di l’ va toujou gen yonn nan pitit pitit li yo pou gouvènen pèp Izrayèl la, depi yo veye jan y’ap mache a pou yo mennen bak yo devan ou jan li menm li te fè l’ la.
26 Se konsa, Bondye pèp Izrayèl la, tanpri, fè tout bagay rive jan ou te fè pwomès la bay David, papa m’, sèvitè ou la.
27 Men, Bondye, èske ou ka rete tout bon sou latè? Ata syèl la pa laj ase pou l’ kenbe ou. Ale wè pou ti kay mwen bati pou ou la a!
28 Seyè, Bondye m’, tanpri, se sèvitè ou mwen ye. Tanpri, tande jan m’ap lapriyè ou. Koute jan m’ap rele nan pye ou jòdi a.
29 Lajounen kou lannwit, voye je ou sou Tanp lan, Tanp kote ou te di w’ap toujou la a. Koute lapriyè mwen menm, sèvitè ou la, m’ap fè nan pye ou la a.
30 Wi, koute lapriyè m’ap fè ak lapriyè pèp Izrayèl ou a ap fè nan pye ou isit la. Nan syèl kote ou rete a, koute lapriyè nou, padonnen nou.
31 Lè yo pote plent pou yon moun ki fè frè l’ yon bagay mal, si yo mande l’ pou l’ fè sèman se pa vre, epi li vin fè sèman an devan lotèl ou a, nan tanp sa a,
32 ou menm, Seyè ki nan syèl la, w’a tande, w’a fè sa ki gen pou fèt la, w’a jije sèvitè ou yo. W’a pini moun ki koupab la, w’a fè chatiman li merite a tonbe sou tèt li. W’a fè rekonèt lè yon moun inonsan pou yo ka rann li jistis.
33 Lè lènmi va bat pèp Izrayèl la paske pèp la te peche kont ou, Bondye, si yo tounen vin jwenn ou, si yo fè lwanj pou ou, si yo vin lapriyè nan pye ou isit nan Tanp sa a,
34 tanpri, kote ou ye nan syèl la, koute yo. Padonnen peche pèp Izrayèl ou a, fè yo tounen nan peyi ou te bay zansèt yo a.
35 Lè va gen chechrès nan peyi a san yon ti degout lapli paske pèp la te peche kont ou, si yo règrèt sa yo te fè a paske ou te pini yo, si yo vin lapriyè isit la, si yo rele non ou,
36 tanpri, kote ou ye nan syèl la, koute yo. Padonnen peche wa a ansanm ak peche pèp Izrayèl la. Moutre yo bon chemen pou yo pran an. Apre sa, Seyè, w’a voye lapli sou peyi ou te bay pèp ou a pou rele l’ pa l’ la.
37 Lè va gen grangou nan peyi a, osinon lè move maladi lapès va tonbe sou li, lè plant yo va cheche nan van cho, lè krikèt ak chwal bondye va ravaje jaden yo, lè lènmi va sènen lavil nou yo pou atake pèp la, lè nenpòt maladi osinon nenpòt malè va tonbe sou pèp la,
38 koute lapriyè y’ap fè nan pye ou. Lè nenpòt moun osinon tout pèp la va lapriyè nan pye ou, lè y’a règrèt sa yo fè a, lè y’a leve men yo nan direksyon Tanp lan pou yo lapriyè ou,
39 tanpri, koute lapriyè yo, kote ou ye nan syèl kote ou rete a, padonnen yo, fè sa ou gen pou fè a. Bay chak moun sa yo merite, paske ou konnen sa ki nan kè yo chak. Se ou menm sèlman ki konnen sa ki nan fon kè moun.
40 Wi, w’a bay chak moun sa yo merite, konsa pèp ou a va gen krentif pou ou pandan tout tan y’ap viv sou tè ou te bay zansèt nou yo.
41 Menm lè yon moun lòt nasyon ki pa fè pati pèp ou a soti byen lwen vini isit la poutèt ou,
42 paske li tande jan y’ap nonmen non ou, li tande pale tout bèl bagay w’ap fè avèk fòs kouraj ou, si li vin lapriyè nan tanp sa a,
43 tanpri, nan syèl kote ou rete a, koute lapriyè li. W’a fè pou li tou sa li mande ou. Konsa tout pèp sou latè va konnen ou. y’a gen krentif pou ou tankou pèp Izrayèl ou a gen krentif pou ou. y’a konnen Tanp mwen bati pou ou a, se la pou yo vin adore ou.
44 Lè pèp ou a va pati al goumen ak lènmi l’ yo, nenpòt ki bò w’a voye yo, lè y’a vire tèt yo nan direksyon lavil ou chwazi a ak nan direksyon Tanp mwen bati pou ou a pou yo lapriyè nan pye ou,
45 tanpri, nan syèl kote ou rete a, koute lapriyè yo. Koute lapriyè y’ap fè nan pye ou, defann kòz yo.
46 Lè pèp ou a va peche kont ou, paske pa gen moun ki pa fè peche, lè w’a move sou yo, w’a lage yo nan men lènmi yo ki va fè yo prizonye, ki va depòte yo nan lòt peyi, li te mèt toupre, li te mèt byen lwen,
47 antan yo la nan peyi kote lènmi yo te depòte yo a, si yo règrèt sa yo te fè, si yo lapriyè nan pye ou, si yo rekonèt yo te fè sa ki mal, si yo rekonèt yo te peche, si yo rekonèt yo antò,
48 si yo tounen vin jwenn ou ak tout kè yo ak tout nanm yo, antan yo nan peyi kote lènmi te depòte yo a, si yo vire tèt yo nan direksyon peyi ou te bay zansèt yo a, nan direksyon lavil ou te chwazi a, nan direksyon Tanp mwen bati pou ou a pou yo lapriyè nan pye ou,
49 tanpri, koute lapriyè y’ap fè nan pye ou, kote ou ye nan syèl kote ou rete a. Koute lapriyè yo, defann kòz yo.
50 Padonnen pèp ou a tout peche yo te fè kont ou, tout vire do yo te vire do ba ou. W’a fè lènmi ki te depòte yo gen pitye pou yo.
51 Paske, se pèp ki rele ou pa ou la yo ye, pèp ou menm ou te fè soti kite peyi Lejip ki te pou yo tankou yon gwo fou dife kote yo fonn fè.
52 Seyè, Bondye, louvri je ou! Koute lapriyè mwen menm, sèvitè ou, m’ap fè nan pye ou ansanm ak tout pèp Izrayèl la, chak fwa n’ap rele pou mande ou sekou.
53 Se ou menm ki te chwazi nou nan mitan tout lòt pèp sou latè pou nou te ka rele ou pa ou, jan ou te di l’ nan bouch Moyiz, sèvitè ou la, lè ou te fè zansèt nou yo soti kite peyi Lejip.
54 Pandan Salomon t’ap fè lapriyè sa a nan pye Bondye, li te ajenou devan lotèl la, de bra leve anlè. Lè li fini, li leve.
55 Li kanpe, li mande Bondye pou l’ voye benediksyon l’ sou tout pèp Izrayèl la ki te sanble la a. Li pale byen fò, li di:
56 -Lwanj pou Seyè a ki bay pèp Izrayèl la kè poze, jan li te pwomèt la. Li kenbe tout bèl pwomès li te fè nan bouch Moyiz, sèvitè l’ la.
57 Koulye a, mwen mande pou Seyè a, Bondye nou an, toujou kanpe la avèk nou jan li te toujou kanpe la ak zansèt nou yo. Mwen mande l’ pou l’ pa janm lage nou, pou l’ pa janm bliye nou.
58 Se pou li fè nou pa janm bliye l’ pou nou ka toujou fè volonte l’ nan tout sa n’ap fè, pou nou kenbe lòd, prensip ak kòmandman li te bay zansèt nou yo.
59 Se pou Seyè a, Bondye nou an, pa janm bliye lapriyè sa yo mwen sot fè nan pye l’ la. Se pou l’ toujou gen pitye pou pèp Izrayèl la ansanm ak wa a, sèvitè li a, dapre sa y’a bezwen chak jou.
60 Konsa, tout nasyon sou latè va konnen se Seyè a sèl ki Bondye. Pa gen lòt!
61 Se pou nou toujou kenbe pye Seyè a, Bondye nou an, fèm. Se pou nou mache dapre lòd li ban nou, pou nou fè tou sa li mande nou fè tankou jòdi a.
62 Apre sa, wa Salomon ansanm ak tout pèp Izrayèl ki te la a ofri bèt pou touye pou Seyè a.
63 Salomon te ofri venndemil (22.000) towo ak sanvenmil (120.000) mouton pou mande Bondye padon. Se konsa wa a ansanm ak tout moun pèp Izrayèl yo te mete Tanp lan apa pou Seyè a.
64 Menm jou a, li mete mitan gwo lakou ki devan Tanp Seyè a apa pou Bondye. Lèfini, se la li ofri bèt pou boule nèt pou Seyè a, grenn jaden ak grès bèt yo te touye pou mande Bondye padon, paske lotèl kwiv ki devan Tanp lan te twò piti pou pran tout ofrann sa yo.
65 Lè sa a, Salomon ansanm ak tout pèp Izrayèl la fete Fèt Joupa yo pandan sèt jou. Foul moun te soti depi Pas Amat la nan nò jouk sou fwontyè ak peyi Lejip la nan sid, yo vin fete fèt la pandan sèt jou. Lèfini, yo fete pandan sèt jou ankò. Sa te fè antou katòz jou.
66 Sou wityèm jou a, Salomon voye tout moun tounen lakay yo. Yo tout t’ap fè lwanj li, y’ al lakay yo ak kè kontan, paske sa te fè yo plezi pou wè tout benediksyon Seyè a te bay David, sèvitè l’ la, ansanm ak pèp Izrayèl li a.

1 Alors le roi Salomon assembla près de lui à Jérusalem les anciens d’Israël et tous les chefs des tribus, les chefs de famille des enfants d’Israël, pour transporter de la cité de David, qui est Sion, l’arche de l’alliance de l’Éternel.
2 Tous les hommes d’Israël se réunirent auprès du roi Salomon, au mois d’Éthanim, qui est le septième mois, pendant la fête.
3 Lorsque tous les anciens d’Israël furent arrivés, les sacrificateurs portèrent l’arche.
4 Ils transportèrent l’arche de l’Éternel, la tente d’assignation, et tous les ustensiles sacrés qui étaient dans la tente: ce furent les sacrificateurs et les Lévites qui les transportèrent.
5 Le roi Salomon et toute l’assemblée d’Israël convoquée auprès de lui se tinrent devant l’arche. Ils sacrifièrent des brebis et des boeufs, qui ne purent être ni comptés, ni nombrés, à cause de leur multitude.
6 Les sacrificateurs portèrent l’arche de l’alliance de l’Éternel à sa place, dans le sanctuaire de la maison, dans le lieu très saint, sous les ailes des chérubins.
7 Car les chérubins avaient les ailes étendues sur la place de l’arche, et ils couvraient l’arche et ses barres par-dessus.
8 On avait donné aux barres une longueur telle que leurs extrémités se voyaient du lieu saint devant le sanctuaire, mais ne se voyaient point du dehors. Elles ont été là jusqu’à ce jour.
9 Il n’y avait dans l’arche que les deux tables de pierre, que Moïse y déposa en Horeb, lorsque l’Éternel fit alliance avec les enfants d’Israël, à leur sortie du pays d’Égypte.
10 Au moment où les sacrificateurs sortirent du lieu saint, la nuée remplit la maison de l’Éternel.
11 Les sacrificateurs ne purent pas y rester pour faire le service, à cause de la nuée; car la gloire de l’Éternel remplissait la maison de l’Éternel.
12 Alors Salomon dit: L’Éternel veut habiter dans l’obscurité!
13 J’ai bâti une maison qui sera ta demeure, un lieu où tu résideras éternellement!
14 Le roi tourna son visage, et bénit toute l’assemblée d’Israël; et toute l’assemblée d’Israël était debout.
15 Et il dit: Béni soit l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël, qui a parlé de sa bouche à David, mon père, et qui accomplit par sa puissance ce qu’il avait déclaré en disant:
16 Depuis le jour où j’ai fait sortir d’Égypte mon peuple d’Israël, je n’ai point choisi de ville parmi toutes les tribus d’Israël pour qu’il y fût bâti une maison où résidât mon nom, mais j’ai choisi David pour qu’il régnât sur mon peuple d’Israël!
17 David, mon père, avait l’intention de bâtir une maison au nom de l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël.
18 Et l’Éternel dit à David, mon père: Puisque tu as eu l’intention de bâtir une maison à mon nom, tu as bien fait d’avoir eu cette intention.
19 Seulement, ce ne sera pas toi qui bâtiras la maison; mais ce sera ton fils, sorti de tes entrailles, qui bâtira la maison à mon nom.
20 L’Éternel a accompli la parole qu’il avait prononcée. Je me suis élevé à la place de David, mon père, et je me suis assis sur le trône d’Israël, comme l’avait annoncé l’Éternel, et j’ai bâti la maison au nom de l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël.
21 J’y ai disposé un lieu pour l’arche où est l’alliance de l’Éternel, l’alliance qu’il a faite avec nos pères quand il les fit sortir du pays d’Égypte.
22 Salomon se plaça devant l’autel de l’Éternel, en face de toute l’assemblée d’Israël. Il étendit ses mains vers le ciel, et il dit:
23 O Éternel, Dieu d’Israël! Il n’y a point de Dieu semblable à toi, ni en haut dans les cieux, ni en bas sur la terre: tu gardes l’alliance et la miséricorde envers tes serviteurs qui marchent en ta présence de tout leur coeur!
24 Ainsi tu as tenu parole à ton serviteur David, mon père; et ce que tu as déclaré de ta bouche, tu l’accomplis en ce jour par ta puissance.
25 Maintenant, Éternel, Dieu d’Israël, observe la promesse que tu as faite à David, mon père, en disant: Tu ne manqueras jamais devant moi d’un successeur assis sur le trône d’Israël, pourvu que tes fils prennent garde à leur voie et qu’ils marchent en ma présence comme tu as marché en ma présence.
26 Oh! qu’elle s’accomplisse, Dieu d’Israël, la promesse que tu as faite à ton serviteur David, mon père!
27 Mais quoi! Dieu habiterait-il véritablement sur la terre? Voici, les cieux et les cieux des cieux ne peuvent te contenir: combien moins cette maison que je t’ai bâtie!
28 Toutefois, Éternel, mon Dieu, sois attentif à la prière de ton serviteur et à sa supplication; écoute le cri et la prière que t’adresse aujourd’hui ton serviteur.
29 Que tes yeux soient nuit et jour ouverts sur cette maison, sur le lieu dont tu as dit: Là sera mon nom! Écoute la prière que ton serviteur fait en ce lieu.
30 Daigne exaucer la supplication de ton serviteur et de ton peuple d’Israël, lorsqu’ils prieront en ce lieu! Exauce du lieu de ta demeure, des cieux, exauce et pardonne!
31 Si quelqu’un pèche contre son prochain et qu’on lui impose un serment pour le faire jurer, et s’il vient jurer devant ton autel, dans cette maison, –
32 écoute-le des cieux, agis, et juge tes serviteurs; condamne le coupable, et fais retomber sa conduite sur sa tête; rends justice à l’innocent, et traite-le selon son innocence!
33 Quand ton peuple d’Israël sera battu par l’ennemi, pour avoir péché contre toi; s’ils reviennent à toi et rendent gloire à ton nom, s’ils t’adressent des prières et des supplications dans cette maison, –
34 exauce-les des cieux, pardonne le péché de ton peuple d’Israël, et ramène-les dans le pays que tu as donné à leurs pères!
35 Quand le ciel sera fermé et qu’il n’y aura point de pluie, à cause de leurs péchés contre toi, s’ils prient dans ce lieu et rendent gloire à ton nom, et s’ils se détournent de leurs péchés, parce que tu les auras châtiés, –
36 exauce-les des cieux, pardonne le péché de tes serviteurs et de ton peuple d’Israël, à qui tu enseigneras la bonne voie dans laquelle ils doivent marcher, et fais venir la pluie sur la terre que tu as donnée en héritage à ton peuple!
37 Quand la famine, la peste, la rouille, la nielle, les sauterelles d’une espèce ou d’une autre, seront dans le pays, quand l’ennemi assiégera ton peuple dans son pays, dans ses portes, quand il y aura des fléaux ou des maladies quelconques;
38 si un homme, si tout ton peuple d’Israël fait entendre des prières et des supplications, et que chacun reconnaisse la plaie de son coeur et étende les mains vers cette maison, –
39 exauce-le des cieux, du lieu de ta demeure, et pardonne; agis, et rends à chacun selon ses voies, toi qui connais le coeur de chacun, car seul tu connais le coeur de tous les enfants des hommes,
40 et ils te craindront tout le temps qu’ils vivront dans le pays que tu as donné à nos pères!
41 Quand l’étranger, qui n’est pas de ton peuple d’Israël, viendra d’un pays lointain, à cause de ton nom,
42 car on saura que ton nom est grand, ta main forte, et ton bras étendu, quand il viendra prier dans cette maison, –
43 exauce-le des cieux, du lieu de ta demeure, et accorde à cet étranger tout ce qu’il te demandera, afin que tous les peuples de la terre connaissent ton nom pour te craindre, comme ton peuple d’Israël, et sachent que ton nom est invoqué sur cette maison que j’ai bâtie!
44 Quand ton peuple sortira pour combattre son ennemi, en suivant la voie que tu lui auras prescrite; s’ils adressent à l’Éternel des prières, les regards tournés vers la ville que tu as choisie et vers la maison que j’ai bâtie à ton nom,
45 exauce des cieux leurs prières et leurs supplications, et fais-leur droit!
46 Quand ils pécheront contre toi, car il n’y a point d’homme qui ne pèche, quand tu seras irrité contre eux et que tu les livreras à l’ennemi, qui les emmènera captifs dans un pays ennemi, lointain ou rapproché;
47 s’ils rentrent en eux-mêmes dans le pays où ils seront captifs, s’ils reviennent à toi et t’adressent des supplications dans le pays de ceux qui les ont emmenés, et qu’ils disent: Nous avons péché, nous avons commis des iniquités, nous avons fait le mal!
48 s’ils reviennent à toi de tout leur coeur et de toute leur âme, dans le pays de leurs ennemis qui les ont emmenés captifs, s’ils t’adressent des prières, les regards tournés vers leur pays que tu as donné à leurs pères, vers la ville que tu as choisie et vers la maison que j’ai bâtie à ton nom, –
49 exauce des cieux, du lieu de ta demeure, leurs prières et leurs supplications, et fais-leur droit;
50 pardonne à ton peuple ses péchés et toutes ses transgressions contre toi; excite la compassion de ceux qui les retiennent captifs, afin qu’ils aient pitié d’eux,
51 car ils sont ton peuple et ton héritage, et tu les as fait sortir d’Égypte, du milieu d’une fournaise de fer!
52 Que tes yeux soient ouverts sur la supplication de ton serviteur et sur la supplication de ton peuple d’Israël, pour les exaucer en tout ce qu’ils te demanderont!
53 Car tu les as séparés de tous les autres peuples de la terre pour en faire ton héritage, comme tu l’as déclaré par Moïse, ton serviteur, quand tu fis sortir d’Égypte nos pères, Seigneur Éternel!
54 Lorsque Salomon eut achevé d’adresser à l’Éternel toute cette prière et cette supplication, il se leva de devant l’autel de l’Éternel, où il était agenouillé, les mains étendues vers le ciel.
55 Debout, il bénit à haute voix toute l’assemblée d’Israël, en disant:
56 Béni soit l’Éternel, qui a donné du repos à son peuple d’Israël, selon toutes ses promesses! De toutes les bonnes paroles qu’il avait prononcées par Moïse, son serviteur, aucune n’est restée sans effet.
57 Que l’Éternel, notre Dieu, soit avec nous, comme il a été avec nos pères; qu’il ne nous abandonne point et ne nous délaisse point,
58 mais qu’il incline nos coeurs vers lui, afin que nous marchions dans toutes ses voies, et que nous observions ses commandements, ses lois et ses ordonnances, qu’il a prescrits à nos pères!
59 Que ces paroles, objet de mes supplications devant l’Éternel, soient jour et nuit présentes à l’Éternel, notre Dieu, et qu’il fasse en tout temps droit à son serviteur et à son peuple d’Israël,
60 afin que tous les peuples de la terre reconnaissent que l’Éternel est Dieu, qu’il n’y en a point d’autre!
61 Que votre coeur soit tout à l’Éternel, notre Dieu, comme il l’est aujourd’hui, pour suivre ses lois et pour observer ses commandements.
62 Le roi et tout Israël avec lui offrirent des sacrifices devant l’Éternel.
63 Salomon immola vingt-deux mille boeufs et cent vingt mille brebis pour le sacrifice d’actions de grâces qu’il offrit à l’Éternel. Ainsi le roi et tous les enfants d’Israël firent la dédicace de la maison de l’Éternel.
64 En ce jour, le roi consacra le milieu du parvis, qui est devant la maison de l’Éternel; car il offrit là les holocaustes, les offrandes, et les graisses des sacrifices d’actions de grâces, parce que l’autel d’airain qui est devant l’Éternel était trop petit pour contenir les holocaustes, les offrandes, et les graisses des sacrifices d’actions de grâces.
65 Salomon célébra la fête en ce temps-là, et tout Israël avec lui. Une grande multitude, venue depuis les environs de Hamath jusqu’au torrent d’Égypte, s’assembla devant l’Éternel, notre Dieu, pendant sept jours, et sept autres jours, soit quatorze jours.
66 Le huitième jour, il renvoya le peuple. Et ils bénirent le roi, et s’en allèrent dans leurs tentes, joyeux et le coeur content pour tout le bien que l’Éternel avait fait à David, son serviteur, et à Israël, son peuple.

1 Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the city of David, which is Zion.
2 And all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto king Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month.
3 And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.
4 And they brought up the ark of the Lord, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, even those did the priests and the Levites bring up.
5 And king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel, that were assembled unto him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen, that could not be told nor numbered for multitude.
6 And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the Lord unto his place, into the oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims.
7 For the cherubims spread forth their two wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubims covered the ark and the staves thereof above.
8 And they drew out the staves, that the ends of the staves were seen out in the holy place before the oracle, and they were not seen without: and there they are unto this day.
9 There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the Lord made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.
10 And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the Lord,
11 So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of the Lord.
12 Then spake Solomon, The Lord said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.
13 I have surely built thee an house to dwell in, a settled place for thee to abide in for ever.
14 And the king turned his face about, and blessed all the congregation of Israel: (and all the congregation of Israel stood;)
15 And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, which spake with his mouth unto David my father, and hath with his hand fulfilled it, saying,
16 Since the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build an house, that my name might be therein; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.
17 And it was in the heart of David my father to build an house for the name of the Lord God of Israel.
18 And the Lord said unto David my father, Whereas it was in thine heart to build an house unto my name, thou didst well that it was in thine heart.
19 Nevertheless thou shalt not build the house; but thy son that shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house unto my name.
20 And the Lord hath performed his word that he spake, and I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised, and have built an house for the name of the Lord God of Israel.
21 And I have set there a place for the ark, wherein is the covenant of the Lord, which he made with our fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.
22 And Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven:
23 And he said, Lord God of Israel, there is no God like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart:
24 Who hast kept with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him: thou spakest also with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thine hand, as it is this day.
25 Therefore now, Lord God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me.
26 And now, O God of Israel, let thy word, I pray thee, be verified, which thou spakest unto thy servant David my father.
27 But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?
28 Yet have thou respect unto the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O Lord my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer, which thy servant prayeth before thee to day:
29 That thine eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there: that thou mayest hearken unto the prayer which thy servant shall make toward this place.
30 And hearken thou to the supplication of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: and hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place: and when thou hearest, forgive.
31 If any man trespass against his neighbour, and an oath be laid upon him to cause him to swear, and the oath come before thine altar in this house:
32 Then hear thou in heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, condemning the wicked, to bring his way upon his head; and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.
33 When thy people Israel be smitten down before the enemy, because they have sinned against thee, and shall turn again to thee, and confess thy name, and pray, and make supplication unto thee in this house:
34 Then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them again unto the land which thou gavest unto their fathers.
35 When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, when thou afflictest them:
36 Then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, that thou teach them the good way wherein they should walk, and give rain upon thy land, which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance.
37 If there be in the land famine, if there be pestilence, blasting, mildew, locust, or if there be caterpiller; if their enemy besiege them in the land of their cities; whatsoever plague, whatsoever sickness there be;
38 What prayer and supplication soever be made by any man, or by all thy people Israel, which shall know every man the plague of his own heart, and spread forth his hands toward this house:
39 Then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and do, and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men;)
40 That they may fear thee all the days that they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.
41 Moreover concerning a stranger, that is not of thy people Israel, but cometh out of a far country for thy name’s sake;
42 (For they shall hear of thy great name, and of thy strong hand, and of thy stretched out arm;) when he shall come and pray toward this house;
43 Hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for: that all people of the earth may know thy name, to fear thee, as do thy people Israel; and that they may know that this house, which I have builded, is called by thy name.
44 If thy people go out to battle against their enemy, whithersoever thou shalt send them, and shall pray unto the Lord toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house that I have built for thy name:
45 Then hear thou in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.
46 If they sin against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captives unto the land of the enemy, far or near;
47 Yet if they shall bethink themselves in the land whither they were carried captives, and repent, and make supplication unto thee in the land of them that carried them captives, saying, We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness;
48 And so return unto thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, which led them away captive, and pray unto thee toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, the city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name:
49 Then hear thou their prayer and their supplication in heaven thy dwelling place, and maintain their cause,
50 And forgive thy people that have sinned against thee, and all their transgressions wherein they have transgressed against thee, and give them compassion before them who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them:
51 For they be thy people, and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest forth out of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron:
52 That thine eyes may be open unto the supplication of thy servant, and unto the supplication of thy people Israel, to hearken unto them in all that they call for unto thee.
53 For thou didst separate them from among all the people of the earth, to be thine inheritance, as thou spakest by the hand of Moses thy servant, when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord God.
54 And it was so, that when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and supplication unto the Lord, he arose from before the altar of the Lord, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven.
55 And he stood, and blessed all the congregation of Israel with a loud voice, saying,
56 Blessed be the Lord, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.
57 The Lord our God be with us, as he was with our fathers: let him not leave us, nor forsake us:
58 That he may incline our hearts unto him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his judgments, which he commanded our fathers.
59 And let these my words, wherewith I have made supplication before the Lord, be nigh unto the Lord our God day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel at all times, as the matter shall require:
60 That all the people of the earth may know that the Lord is God, and that there is none else.
61 Let your heart therefore be perfect with the Lord our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.
62 And the king, and all Israel with him, offered sacrifice before the Lord.
63 And Solomon offered a sacrifice of peace offerings, which he offered unto the Lord, two and twenty thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the children of Israel dedicated the house of the Lord.
64 The same day did the king hallow the middle of the court that was before the house of the Lord: for there he offered burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings: because the brasen altar that was before the Lord was too little to receive the burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings.
65 And at that time Solomon held a feast, and all Israel with him, a great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt, before the Lord our God, seven days and seven days, even fourteen days.
66 On the eighth day he sent the people away: and they blessed the king, and went unto their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that the Lord had done for David his servant, and for Israel his people.
