1 Wa Nèbikadneza te fè fè yon gwo estati lò. Estati a te gen katrevendis pye wotè ak nèf pye lajè. Li fè yo mete l’ kanpe nan mitan plenn Doura a, nan pwovens Babilòn lan.
2 Lèfini, wa a bay lòd pou tout otorite yo: prefè, kòmandan, gouvènè, komisè, prepoze, jij, majistra ansanm ak tout lòt chèf pwovens yo, reyini pou y’a l’ nan premye seremoni y’ap fè pou mete estati lò wa a te fè fè a an sèvis.
3 Se konsa, tout otorite yo te reyini pou gwo fèt premye seremoni an. Yo te kanpe devan estati wa a te fè fè a.
4 Yonn nan moun ki te konn fè piblikasyon yo pran pale byen fò, li di: -Nou menm moun tout nasyon, moun tout ras ki pale tout kalite lang, men lòd yo ban nou.
5 Talè konsa nou pral tande yo kònen twonpèt. Apre sa, yo pral jwe fif, bandjo, gita. Lèfini, yo pral jwe tout lòt enstriman mizik yo ansanm. Lè mizik la konmanse, se pou nou mete ajenou devan estati lò wa Nèbikadneza te fè fè a. Se pou nou adore l’.
6 Tout moun ki refize mete ajenou devan estati a pou adore l’, y’ap pran l’ al lage tou vivan anndan yon gwo fou tou limen.
7 Se konsa, tande moun yo tande twonpèt la ak tout lòt enstriman yo, yo tonbe ajenou devan estati lò wa Nèbikadneza te fè fè a, yo adore l’. Te gen moun tout nasyon ki soti nan tout ras, epi ki pale tout kalite lang.
8 Lè sa a, gen kèk moun lavil Babilòn ki pwofite al denonse jwif yo.
9 Yo di wa Nèbikadneza konsa: -Se pou wa a viv pou tout tan!
10 Monwa, ou fè pibliye yon lòd ki mande pou tout moun mete ajenou, pou yo adore estati lò a, lè y’a tande twonpèt ak tout lòt enstriman mizik yo ap jwe.
11 Si yon moun pa mete ajenou pou adore estati a, se pou yo lage l’ tout vivan nan gwo fou tou limen an.
12 Enben! Gen twa jwif ou te mete reskonsab pwovens Babilòn lan. Se Chadrak, Mechak ak Abèdnego. Mesye sa yo pa okipe lòd ou bay la, monwa. Yo pa adore bondye ou la. Yo pa mete ajenou devan estati lò ou te fè fè a.
13 Lè Nèbikadneza tande sa, li move anpil, li fè gwo kòlè, li bay lòd pou yo mennen Chadrak, Mechak ak Abèdnego ba li. Lamenm, yo mennen twa mesye yo devan wa a.
14 Wa a di yo konsa: -Chadrak, Mechak ak Abèdnego, èske se vre nou derefize adore bondye mwen yo, nou derefize mete ajenou devan estati lò mwen te fè fè a?
15 Bon, koulye a, tande n’a tande twonpèt yo ak lòt enstriman mizik yo ap jwe, se pou nou mete ajenou pou n’ adore estati mwen fè fè a. Si nou pa fè sa, y’ap jete nou nan gwo fou tou limen an. Pa gen bondye ki pou delivre nou anba men m’.
16 Chadrak, Mechak ak Abèdnego reponn, yo di wa Nèbikadneza konsa: -Monwa, nou p’ap eseye defann tèt nou.
17 Si Bondye n’ap sèvi a ka wete nou nan gwo fou tou limen an, si li ka delivre nou tou anba men ou, l’ap fè l’.
18 Men, menm si li pa vin delivre nou, monwa, nou tou di ou nou p’ap adore bondye pa ou yo, ni nou p’ap mete ajenou devan estati lò ou te fè fè a.
19 Lè wa Nèbikadneza tande pawòl sa yo, li fè yon sèl kolè, li move sou Chadrak, Mechak ak Abèdnego. Li bay lòd pou yo chofe fou a sèt fwa plis pase jan yo te konn fè l’ la.
20 Lèfini, li mande pou kèk sòlda ki pi gwonèg nan lame li a vin mare Chadrak, Mechak ak Abèdnego byen mare, apre sa pou lage yo jete nan gwo fou tou limen an.
21 Se konsa yo pran mesye yo, yo mare yo byen mare, yo jete yo nan gwo fou tou limen an ak tout rad sou yo, soulye nan pye yo ak gwo mouchwa mare tèt yo.
22 Lòd wa a te bay la te sevè, kifè yo te chofe fou a anpil anpil. Se konsa flanm dife ki t’ap soti nan fwa a boule gad ki t’ap jete mesye yo nan dife a. Yo mouri.
23 Twa mesye yo menm, Chadrak, Mechak ak Abèdnego, tonbe tou mare nan gwo fou tou limen an.
24 Apre sa, wa Nèbikadneza rete konsa li leve voup, tankou yon moun ki sezi. Li mande moun ki te avè l’ yo: -Eske se pa t’ twa moun tou mare nou te lage nan gwo fou tou limen an? Yo reponn li: -Se sa wi, monwa!
25 Wa a di yo ankò: -Ki jan fè se kat moun mwen wè k’ap mache nan dife a? Yo yonn pa mare. Dife a pa fè yo anyen. Katriyèm moun lan menm sanble yon pitit bondye yo.
26 Wa Nèbikadneza pwoche bò pòt gwo fou a epi li rele: -Chadrak! Mechak! Abèdnego! Sèvitè Bondye ki nan syèl la! Soti vin jwenn mwen! Epi mesye yo mache soti nan dife a.
27 Tout gwo zotobre yo: prefè, kòmandan, gouvènè ansanm ak tout lòt chèf yo sanble pou yo wè twa mesye yo. Dife a pa t’ fè kò yo anyen. Yon branch cheve nan tèt yo pa t’ boule, rad sou yo pa te menm flambe. Pa t’ gen okenn lafimen sou yo.
28 Wa a di konsa: -Lwanj pou Bondye Chadrak, Mechak ak Abèdnego a! Li voye zanj li delivre sèvitè l’ yo ki te mete konfyans yo nan li. Yo te derefize obeyi lòd mwen. Yo te pito mouri pase pou yo ta mete ajenou pou adore yon bondye ki pa bondye pa yo a.
29 Koulye a, men lòd mwen bay pou tout pèp, moun tout peyi ak moun tout ras ki pale lòt lang yo: si yonn nan nou pale Bondye Chadrak, Mechak ak Abèdnego a mal, se pou yo depatcha l’. Lèfini, se pou yo kraze kay li nèt mete atè. Paske pa gen lòt bondye ki ka delivre moun konsa.
30 Wa a moute Chadrak, Mechak ak Abèdnego grad nan pwovens Babilòn lan.

1 Le roi Nebucadnetsar fit une statue d’or, haute de soixante coudées et large de six coudées. Il la dressa dans la vallée de Dura, dans la province de Babylone.
2 Le roi Nebucadnetsar fit convoquer les satrapes, les intendants et les gouverneurs, les grands juges, les trésoriers, les jurisconsultes, les juges, et tous les magistrats des provinces, pour qu’ils se rendissent à la dédicace de la statue qu’avait élevée le roi Nebucadnetsar.
3 Alors les satrapes, les intendants et les gouverneurs, les grands juges, les trésoriers, les jurisconsultes, les juges, et tous les magistrats des provinces, s’assemblèrent pour la dédicace de la statue qu’avait élevée le roi Nebucadnetsar. Ils se placèrent devant la statue qu’avait élevée Nebucadnetsar.
4 Un héraut cria à haute voix: Voici ce qu’on vous ordonne, peuples, nations, hommes de toutes langues!
5 Au moment où vous entendrez le son de la trompette, du chalumeau, de la guitare, de la sambuque, du psaltérion, de la cornemuse, et de toutes sortes d’instruments de musique, vous vous prosternerez et vous adorerez la statue d’or qu’a élevée le roi Nebucadnetsar.
6 Quiconque ne se prosternera pas et n’adorera pas sera jeté à l’instant même au milieu d’une fournaise ardente.
7 C’est pourquoi, au moment où tous les peuples entendirent le son de la trompette, du chalumeau, de la guitare, de la sambuque, du psaltérion, et de toutes sortes d’instruments de musique, tous les peuples, les nations, les hommes de toutes langues se prosternèrent et adorèrent la statue d’or qu’avait élevée le roi Nebucadnetsar.
8 A cette occasion, et dans le même temps, quelques Chaldéens s’approchèrent et accusèrent les Juifs.
9 Ils prirent la parole et dirent au roi Nebucadnetsar: O roi, vis éternellement!
10 Tu as donné un ordre d’après lequel tous ceux qui entendraient le son de la trompette, du chalumeau, de la guitare, de la sambuque, du psaltérion, de la cornemuse, et de toutes sortes d’instruments, devraient se prosterner et adorer la statue d’or,
11 et d’après lequel quiconque ne se prosternerait pas et n’adorerait pas serait jeté au milieu d’une fournaise ardente.
12 Or, il y a des Juifs à qui tu as remis l’intendance de la province de Babylone, Schadrac, Méschac et Abed Nego, hommes qui ne tiennent aucun compte de toi, ô roi; ils ne servent pas tes dieux, et ils n’adorent point la statue d’or que tu as élevée.
13 Alors Nebucadnetsar, irrité et furieux, donna l’ordre qu’on amenât Schadrac, Méschac et Abed Nego. Et ces hommes furent amenés devant le roi.
14 Nebucadnetsar prit la parole et leur dit: Est-ce de propos délibéré, Schadrac, Méschac et Abed Nego, que vous ne servez pas mes dieux, et que vous n’adorez pas la statue d’or que j’ai élevée?
15 Maintenant tenez-vous prêts, et au moment où vous entendrez le son de la trompette, du chalumeau, de la guitare, de la sambuque, du psaltérion, de la cornemuse, et de toutes sortes d’instruments, vous vous prosternerez et vous adorerez la statue que j’ai faite; si vous ne l’adorez pas, vous serez jetés à l’instant même au milieu d’une fournaise ardente. Et quel est le dieu qui vous délivrera de ma main?
16 Schadrac, Méschac et Abed Nego répliquèrent au roi Nebucadnetsar: Nous n’avons pas besoin de te répondre là-dessus.
17 Voici, notre Dieu que nous servons peut nous délivrer de la fournaise ardente, et il nous délivrera de ta main, ô roi.
18 Simon, sache, ô roi, que nous ne servirons pas tes dieux, et que nous n’adorerons pas la statue d’or que tu as élevée.
19 Sur quoi Nebucadnetsar fut rempli de fureur, et il changea de visage en tournant ses regards contre Schadrac, Méschac et Abed Nego. Il reprit la parole et ordonna de chauffer la fournaise sept fois plus qu’il ne convenait de la chauffer.
20 Puis il commanda à quelques-uns des plus vigoureux soldats de son armée de lier Schadrac, Méschac et Abed Nego, et de les jeter dans la fournaise ardente.
21 Ces hommes furent liés avec leurs caleçons, leurs tuniques, leurs manteaux et leurs autres vêtements, et jetés au milieu de la fournaise ardente.
22 Comme l’ordre du roi était sévère, et que la fournaise était extraordinairement chauffée, la flamme tua les hommes qui y avaient jeté Schadrac, Méschac et Abed Nego.
23 Et ces trois hommes, Schadrac, Méschac et Abed Nego, tombèrent liés au milieu de la fournaise ardente.
24 Alors le roi Nebucadnetsar fut effrayé, et se leva précipitamment. Il prit la parole, et dit à ses conseillers: N’avons-nous pas jeté au milieu du feu trois hommes liés? Ils répondirent au roi: Certainement, ô roi!
25 Il reprit et dit: Eh bien, je vois quatre hommes sans liens, qui marchent au milieu du feu, et qui n’ont point de mal; et la figure du quatrième ressemble à celle d’un fils des dieux.
26 Ensuite Nebucadnetsar s’approcha de l’entrée de la fournaise ardente, et prenant la parole, il dit: Schadrac, Méschac et Abed Nego, serviteurs du Dieu suprême, sortez et venez! Et Schadrac, Méschac et Abed Nego sortirent du milieu du feu.
27 Les satrapes, les intendants, les gouverneurs, et les conseillers du roi s’assemblèrent; ils virent que le feu n’avait eu aucun pouvoir sur le corps de ces hommes, que les cheveux de leur tête n’avaient pas été brûlés, que leurs caleçons n’étaient point endommagés, et que l’odeur du feu ne les avait pas atteints.
28 Nebucadnetsar prit la parole et dit: Béni soit le Dieu de Schadrac, de Méschac et d’Abed Nego, lequel a envoyé son ange et délivré ses serviteurs qui ont eu confiance en lui, et qui ont violé l’ordre du roi et livré leur corps plutôt que de servir et d’adorer aucun autre dieu que leur Dieu!
29 Voici maintenant l’ordre que je donne: tout homme, à quelque peuple, nation ou langue qu’il appartienne, qui parlera mal du Dieu de Schadrac, de Méschac et d’Abed Nego, sera mis en pièces, et sa maison sera réduite en un tas d’immondices, parce qu’il n’y a aucun autre dieu qui puisse délivrer comme lui.
30 Après cela, le roi fit prospérer Schadrac, Méschac et Abed Nego, dans la province de Babylone.

1 Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.
2 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
3 Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
4 Then an herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages,
5 That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up:
6 And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.
7 Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
8 Wherefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near, and accused the Jews.
9 They spake and said to the king Nebuchadnezzar, O king, live for ever.
10 Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and worship the golden image:
11 And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.
12 There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
13 Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king.
14 Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?
15 Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.
17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
19 Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.
20 And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.
21 Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
22 Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flames of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
23 And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
24 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
26 Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire.
27 And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
28 Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.
29 Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.
30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon.
