1 Jezi t’ap pase yon kote konsa lè l’ wè yon nonm ki te avèg depi li te fèt.
2 Disip li yo mande li: Mèt, poukisa nonm sa a te fèt tou avèg en? Se peche pa l’ osinon peche manman l’ ak papa l’ ki lakòz sa?
3 Jezi reponn yo: Se pa ni peche pa l’ ni peche manman l’ ak papa l’ ki lakòz sa. Li fèt avèg, se pou moun ka wè sa pouvwa Bondye a ka fè nan li.
4 Toutotan fè klè toujou, se pou m’ fè travay moun ki voye m’ lan ban m’ fè a. Talè konsa pral fè nwit, pesonn p’ap ka travay.
5 Toutotan mwen la sou latè, mwen se limyè k’ap klere tout moun ki sou latè.
6 Apre li fin di pawòl sa yo, Jezi krache atè, li fè yon ti labou ak krache a, li fwote je nonm lan avèk labou a.
7 Li di l’ konsa: Al lave figi ou nan gwo basen Siloe a. (Mo Siloe sa a vle di: Moun yo te voye a.) Avèg la ale, li lave figi li. Lè l’ tounen, li te ka wè nan tou de je l’ yo.
8 Moun ki te rete bò lakay li yo ansanm ak tout moun ki te konn wè l’ ap mande charite anvan sa, yo tout t’ap di: Apa nonm ki te konn chita ap mande charite a!
9 Gen moun ki t’ap di: Se li menm wi. Gen lòt ki t’ap di tou: Non. Se pa li. Men, li sanble l’ anpil. Lè sa a nonm lan di yo: Se mwen menm menm.
10 Yo mande li: Ki jan ou fè wè nan je ou yo?
11 Li reponn yo: Nonm yo rele Jezi a fè yon ti labou, li fwote je m’ ak labou a, epi li di m’ al lave figi m’ nan basen Siloe a. m’ ale. Lè m’ fin lave figi m’, mwen wè m’ wè.
12 Yo mande li: Kote nonm sa a? Li reponn yo: Mwen pa konnen non.
13 Yo pran nonm ki te avèg la, yo mennen l’ bay farizyen yo.
14 Se te yon jou repo Jezi te fè labou a pou louvri je l’ yo.
15 Se poutèt sa, farizyen yo tou, yo mande nonm lan sak te pase ki te fè l’ ka wè koulye a. Li di yo: Li mete ti kras labou sou je m’ yo, lèfini mwen lave figi mwen. Se konsa, koulye a mwen wè.
16 Te gen de twa nan farizyen yo ki t’ap di: Nonm ki fè sa a pa ka soti nan Bondye. Li pa obeyi lalwa repo a. Men, gen lòt ki t’ap di: Ki jan yon nonm k’ap fè sa ki mal kapab fè yon mirak konsa? Te vin gen divizyon nan mitan yo.
17 Farizyen yo mande nonm ki te avèg la: Ou menm, dapre ou, nonm ki louvri je ou yo, ki moun li ye? Li reponn: Se yon pwofèt li ye.
18 Men, jwif yo pa t’ vle kwè li te avèg anvan sa. Yo fè chache papa l’ ak manman l’ pou poze yo kekzyon.
19 Yo mande yo: Eske nonm sa a se pitit gason nou an vre? Eske se vre li te fèt avèg? Sak pase l’ ki fè li wè koulye a?
20 Papa a ak manman an reponn yo: Nou konnen se pitit gason nou li ye, li te fèt avèg.
21 Men, nou pa konnen sak pase l’ ki fè l’ wè koulye a. Nou pa konnen tou ki moun ki louvri je li. Nou mèt mande li. li ase gran konsa. Li ka reponn li menm.
22 Papa a ak manman an te pale konsa paske yo te pè jwif yo. Paske, jwif yo te tonbe dakò sou pwen sa a: Tout moun ki ta di Jezi se Kris la, yo t’ap mete yo deyò nan sinagòg la.
23 Se poutèt sa papa l’ ak manman l’ te di: li ase gran, li ka reponn li menm. Nou mèt mande li.
24 Farizyen yo rele nonm ki te avèg la yon dezyèm fwa. Yo di li: Di verite a devan Bondye. Nou konnen nonm sa a se yon nonm k’ap fè sa ki mal.
25 Li reponn yo: Mwen pa konnen si se yon moun k’ap fè sa ki mal osinon sa ki byen. Yon sèl bagay mwen konnen: mwen te avèg, koulye a mwen wè.
26 Yo mande li: Men, kisa l’ te fè? Ki jan l’ te fè pou louvri je ou yo?
27 Li reponn yo: Mwen deja di nou ki jan, men nou pa t’ap koute. Poukisa nou vle m’ redi l’ ankò? Gen lè, nou menm tou, nou ta renmen tounen disip li?
28 Yo joure l’, yo di l’ konsa: Se ou menm ki disip li! Nou menm, nou se disip Moyiz.
29 Nou konnen Bondye te pale ak Moyiz. Men, li menm, nou pa menm konnen ki bò l’ soti.
30 Nonm lan reponn yo: Ala bagay dwòl en! Nou pa konnen ki bò l’ soti? Epi, se li menm ki louvri je m’ yo!
31 Nou tout nou konnen sa: Bondye pa tande lè se yon moun k’ap fè sa ki mal ki pale avè li. Men, se pa menm bagay lè se yon moun ki respekte l’, yon moun ki fè volonte l’ k’ap pale avè li.
32 Nou poko janm tande yo fè yon moun ki fèt avèg wè.
33 Si nonm sa a pa t’ soti nan Bondye, li pa ta ka fè anyen.
34 Yo reponn li: Se nan peche ou fèt, epi ou konprann pou ou vin ban nou leson koulye a? Epi yo mete l’ deyò nan sinagòg la.
35 Jezi te vin konnen yo te mete nonm ki te avèg la deyò nan sinagòg la. Lè li kontre avè l’, li di l’ konsa: Eske ou kwè nan Moun Bondye voye nan lachè a?
36 Nonm lan reponn li: Mèt, di m’ ki moun li ye pou m’ ka kwè nan li?
37 Jezi reponn li: Apa w’ap gade li! Se li menm k’ap pale avè ou la a wi.
38 Nonm lan di: Seyè, mwen kwè. Epi li tonbe ajenou devan Jezi.
39 Lè sa a, Jezi di: Mwen vin sou tè a pou yon jijman: Moun ki avèg yo pral wè. Men moun ki wè yo pral tounen avèg.
40 Te gen kèk farizyen la avèk li. Lè yo tande pawòl sa yo, yo mande l’: Eske nou menm tou, nou avèg?
41 Jezi reponn yo: Si nou te avèg, nou pa ta koupab. Men, n’ap plede di nou wè, nou wè. Se poutèt sa nou antò toujou.

1 Jésus vit, en passant, un homme aveugle de naissance.
2 Ses disciples lui firent cette question: Rabbi, qui a péché, cet homme ou ses parents, pour qu’il soit né aveugle?
3 Jésus répondit: Ce n’est pas que lui ou ses parents aient péché; mais c’est afin que les oeuvres de Dieu soient manifestées en lui.
4 Il faut que je fasse, tandis qu’il est jour, les oeuvres de celui qui m’a envoyé; la nuit vient, où personne ne peut travailler.
5 Pendant que je suis dans le monde, je suis la lumière du monde.
6 Après avoir dit cela, il cracha à terre, et fit de la boue avec sa salive. Puis il appliqua cette boue sur les yeux de l’aveugle,
7 et lui dit: Va, et lave-toi au réservoir de Siloé (nom qui signifie envoyé). Il y alla, se lava, et s’en retourna voyant clair.
8 Ses voisins et ceux qui auparavant l’avaient connu comme un mendiant disaient: N’est-ce pas là celui qui se tenait assis et qui mendiait?
9 Les uns disaient: C’est lui. D’autres disaient: Non, mais il lui ressemble. Et lui-même disait: C’est moi.
10 Ils lui dirent donc: Comment tes yeux ont-ils été ouverts?
11 Il répondit: L’Homme qu’on appelle Jésus a fait de la boue, a oint mes yeux, et m’a dit: Va au réservoir de Siloé, et lave-toi. J’y suis allé, je me suis lavé, et j’ai recouvré la vue.
12 Ils lui dirent: Où est cet homme? Il répondit: Je ne sais.
13 Ils menèrent vers les pharisiens celui qui avait été aveugle.
14 Or, c’était un jour de sabbat que Jésus avait fait de la boue, et lui avait ouvert les yeux.
15 De nouveau, les pharisiens aussi lui demandèrent comment il avait recouvré la vue. Et il leur dit: Il a appliqué de la boue sur mes yeux, je me suis lavé, et je vois.
16 Sur quoi quelques-uns des pharisiens dirent: Cet homme ne vient pas de Dieu, car il n’observe pas le sabbat. D’autres dirent: Comment un homme pécheur peut-il faire de tels miracles?
17 Et il y eut division parmi eux. Ils dirent encore à l’aveugle: Toi, que dis-tu de lui, sur ce qu’il t’a ouvert les yeux? Il répondit: C’est un prophète.
18 Les Juifs ne crurent point qu’il eût été aveugle et qu’il eût recouvré la vue jusqu’à ce qu’ils eussent fait venir ses parents.
19 Et ils les interrogèrent, disant: Est-ce là votre fils, que vous dites être né aveugle? Comment donc voit-il maintenant?
20 Ses parents répondirent: Nous savons que c’est notre fils, et qu’il est né aveugle;
21 mais comment il voit maintenant, ou qui lui a ouvert les yeux, c’est ce que nous ne savons. Interrogez-le lui-même, il a de l’âge, il parlera de ce qui le concerne.
22 Ses parents dirent cela parce qu’ils craignaient les Juifs; car les Juifs étaient déjà convenus que, si quelqu’un reconnaissait Jésus pour le Christ, il serait exclu de la synagogue.
23 C’est pourquoi ses parents dirent: Il a de l’âge, interrogez-le lui-même.
24 Les pharisiens appelèrent une seconde fois l’homme qui avait été aveugle, et ils lui dirent: Donne gloire à Dieu; nous savons que cet homme est un pécheur.
25 Il répondit: S’il est un pécheur, je ne sais; je sais une chose, c’est que j’étais aveugle et que maintenant je vois.
26 Ils lui dirent: Que t’a-t-il fait? Comment t’a-t-il ouvert les yeux?
27 Il leur répondit: Je vous l’ai déjà dit, et vous n’avez pas écouté; pourquoi voulez-vous l’entendre encore? Voulez-vous aussi devenir ses disciples?
28 Ils l’injurièrent et dirent: C’est toi qui es son disciple; nous, nous sommes disciples de Moïse.
29 Nous savons que Dieu a parlé à Moïse; mais celui-ci, nous ne savons d’où il est.
30 Cet homme leur répondit: Il est étonnant que vous ne sachiez d’où il est; et cependant il m’a ouvert les yeux.
31 Nous savons que Dieu n’exauce point les pécheurs; mais, si quelqu’un l’honore et fait sa volonté, c’est celui là qu’il l’exauce.
32 Jamais on n’a entendu dire que quelqu’un ait ouvert les yeux d’un aveugle-né.
33 Si cet homme ne venait pas de Dieu, il ne pourrait rien faire.
34 Ils lui répondirent: Tu es né tout entier dans le péché, et tu nous enseignes! Et ils le chassèrent.
35 Jésus apprit qu’ils l’avaient chassé; et, l’ayant rencontré, il lui dit: Crois-tu au Fils de Dieu?
36 Il répondit: Et qui est-il, Seigneur, afin que je croie en lui?
37 Tu l’as vu, lui dit Jésus, et celui qui te parle, c’est lui.
38 Et il dit: Je crois, Seigneur. Et il se prosterna devant lui.
39 Puis Jésus dit: Je suis venu dans ce monde pour un jugement, pour que ceux qui ne voient point voient, et que ceux qui voient deviennent aveugles.
40 Quelques pharisiens qui étaient avec lui, ayant entendu ces paroles, lui dirent: Nous aussi, sommes-nous aveugles?
41 Jésus leur répondit: Si vous étiez aveugles, vous n’auriez pas de péché. Mais maintenant vous dites: Nous voyons. C’est pour cela que votre péché subsiste.

1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
8 The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
9 Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.
10 Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?
11 He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
12 Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.
13 They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind.
14 And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.
16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
17 They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?
20 His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:
21 But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
22 These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
23 Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
24 Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
25 He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
26 Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes?
27 He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?
28 Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses’ disciples.
29 We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.
30 The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.
31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
32 Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.
33 If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.
34 They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
