1 Lè David santi li pral mouri, li rele Salomon, pitit gason l’ lan, li ba li dènye volonte l’. Li di l’ konsa:
2 -Talè konsa mwen pral fè dènye gwo vwayaj la tankou tout moun sou latè. Pran kouraj, pitit mwen! Mete gason sou ou!
3 Se pou ou fè tou sa Seyè a, Bondye ou la, va ba ou lòd fè. W’a fè volonte Bondye, w’a mache dapre lòd, kòmandman, regleman ak prensip li bay yo jan sa ekri nan liv Lalwa Moyiz la, pou tout zafè ou mache byen kote ou pase, nan tou sa w’ap fè.
4 Si ou fè sa, Seyè a va kenbe pwomès li te fè a lè l’ te di m’ si pitit mwen yo mennen bak yo byen, si yo mache dwat devan li ak tout kè yo, ak tout nanm yo, ap toujou gen yonn nan yo pou gouvènen pèp Izrayèl la apre mwen.
5 Koulye a, ou konnen sa Joab, pitit gason Sewouya a, te fè m’ lè li te touye de jeneral lame pèp Izrayèl la: Abnè, pitit gason Nè a, ak Amasa, pitit gason Jetè a. Ou chonje jan lè sa a pa t’ gen lagè. Li touye yo pou l’ te ka tire revanj pou moun mesye sa yo te touye pandan lagè. Li touye de inonsan, kifè jouk jounen jòdi a m’ap pote chaj la pou li, m’ap peye konsekans sa li te fè a.
6 Ou konnen sa ou gen pou fè. Pa kite se vyeyès ki touye l’.
7 W’a aji byen ak pitit gason Bazilayi yo, moun lavil Galarad la. y’a manje sou tab avè ou, paske yo te aji byen avè m’ lè mwen t’ap kouri pou Absalon, frè ou la.
8 Ou gen ankò bò kote ou Chimeyi, pitit gason Gera a, moun lavil Bakourim nan pòsyon tè branch fanmi Benjamen yo. Jou mwen t’ap kouri ale lavil Manayim lan, li te ban m’ gwo madichon. Men, lè m’ t’ap tounen, li vin kontre m’ bò larivyè Jouden. Jou sa a, mwen te fè sèman nan non Seyè a mwen p’ap fè yo touye l’.
9 Men ou menm, pa padonnen l’ sa. Ou gen bon konprann, ou konn sa pou ou fè avè l’. Jwenn yon jan pou fè yo touye l’ atout li fin vye granmoun lan.
10 Lè David mouri yo antere l’ nan lavil David la.
11 Li pase karantan ap gouvènen pèp Izrayèl la: Pandan sètan li te rete lavil Ebwon. Pandan rès tranntwazan yo, li te rete lavil Jerizalèm.
12 Salomon, pitit gason David la, vin wa nan plas papa li. Gouvènman li te byen chita.
13 Yon jou, Adonija, pitit Agit la, al wè Batcheba, manman Salomon. Batcheba mande l’: -Se yon vizit zanmi ou vin fè m’ la a? Adonija reponn: -Se sa menm!
14 Apre sa, li di l’: -Mwen gen yon bagay mwen ta renmen mande ou! Batcheba di l’: -Kisa l’ ye?
15 Adonija reponn: -Ou konnen se mwen menm ki pou te wa apre papa m’. Lèfini, se sa tout pèp Izrayèl la t’ap tann. Men, sa pase yon lòt jan. Se frè m’ lan ki wa koulye a paske se Seyè a ki vle l’ konsa.
16 Bon, yon sèl favè m’ap mande ou. Pa refize m’ li.
17 Batcheba di l’: -Pale non! Adonija reponn: -Tanpri, al mande wa Salomon pou l’ ban mwen Abichag, tifi lavil Chounam lan, pou madanm mwen. Mwen konnen li p’ap refize ou sa.
18 Batcheba reponn: -Bon, dakò! m’a pale ak wa a pou ou!
19 Se konsa Batcheba al pale ak wa Salomon pou Adonija. Wa a leve kanpe pou l’ resevwa manman l’. Li bese byen ba devan l’ pou di l’ bonjou. Apre sa, l’ al chita sou fotèy li, epi li bay lòd pou yo pote yon lòt fotèy pou manman l’ chita bò dwat li.
20 Batcheba di konsa: -Mwen ta renmen mande yon ti favè. Tanpri, pa refize m’ sa. W’a reponn: -Manman, mande m’ sa ou vle. Mwen p’ap refize ou li.
21 Batcheba di l’: -Kite Adonija, frè ou la, pran Abichag, tifi lavil Chounam lan, pou madanm li.
22 Wa a reponn manman li, li di li: -Poukisa w’ap mande m’ pou m’ bay Adonija Abichag, tifi lavil Chounam lan? Ou ta mèt tou mande m’ pou m’ ba li plas wa a tou, se gran frè m’ li ye. Lèfini, li gen Abyata, prèt la, ak Joab, pitit Sewouja a, avè l’.
23 Apre sa Salomon fè sèman sa a devan Seyè a: -Se pou Bondye ban m’ pi gwo pinisyon ki genyen si mwen pa fè Adonija peye pou sa l’ mande m’ la a!
24 Seyè a vivan. Se li menm ki mete m’ chita sou fotèy David, papa m’ lan. Li kenbe pwomès li, li mete m’ chèf. Lèfini, li di se pitit mwen ki pou chèf apre m’. Mwen fè sèman nan non Seyè a, se pou Adonija mouri jòdi a menm.
25 Se konsa Salomon bay Benaja, pitit gason Jeojada a, lòd pou l’ al touye Adonija. Benaja ale, li touye Adonija.
26 Apre sa, wa a pale ak Abyata, prèt la, li di l’ konsa. -Ale fè wout ou Anatòt, lakay ou. Ou merite lanmò tou. Men, jòdi a mwen p’ap fè yo touye ou, paske se ou ki te pote Bwat Kontra Seyè a devan David, papa m’. Lèfini, ou te soufri ansanm avè l’.
27 Salomon revoke Abyata, li enpoze l’ sèvi tankou prèt Seyè a. Se konsa, sa Seyè a te di lavil Silo sou Eli, prèt la, ak sou pitit li yo, rive vre.
28 Lè Joab vin konnen sa ki te rive, li kouri al kache nan Tant Randevou a. Li kenbe kòn lotèl la pou yo pa touye l’. Joab te pran pozisyon pou Adonija, men li pa t’ janm pran pozisyon pou Absalon.
29 Y’ al di Salomon men Joab kouri al kache nan Tant Randevou a, li kanpe bò lotèl la. Salomon voye Benaja, pitit Jeojada a, pou touye Joab.
30 Benaja ale nan Tant Randevou a, li di Joab konsa: -Wa a bay lòd pou ou soti la a. Joab reponn: -Non. Se isit la m’ap mouri. Benaja tounen al jwenn wa a, li rapòte l’ repons Joab te ba li a.
31 Wa a reponn: -Fè jan li di ou la. Touye l’, lèfini, antere l’. Konsa ni mwen, ni pyès lòt moun nan fanmi papa m’ p’ap reskonsab pou sa Joab te fè lè li te touye de inonsan yo.
32 Seyè a pral pini Joab pou krim sa yo li te fè san David, papa m’, pa t’ konnen. Joab te touye de moun inonsan ki te pi bon pase l’: Abnè, pitit pitit gason Nè a, kòmandan lame peyi Izrayèl la ak Amasa, pitit gason Jetè a, kòmandan lame peyi Jida a.
33 Wi, chatiman krim sa yo va tonbe sou Joab ak sou pitit li yo pou tout tan. Men, Seyè a ap toujou bay David ak pitit li yo, fanmi li ak tout wa ki va vin apre l’ yo kè poze.
34 Se konsa, Benaja tounen nan Tant Randevou a, li touye Joab. Yo antere Joab lakay li nan dezè a.
35 Apre sa, wa a mete Benaja kòmandan lame a nan plas Joab, li mete Zadòk, prèt la, nan plas Abyata.
36 Apre sa, wa a voye chache Chimeyi, li di l’ konsa: -Bati yon kay pou ou isit nan lavil Jerizalèm. Se la mwen vle ou rete. Piga ou janm kite lavil la.
37 Mwen tou pale ou, jou ou soti kite lavil la, jou ou janbe lòt bò ravin Sedwon an, w’ap mouri wi. Mwen ki di ou sa. Se ou menm ki va reskonsab nenpòt sa ki va rive ou.
38 Chimeyi reponn: -Dakò, monwa. m’a fè sa ou di a. Se konsa Chimeyi rete lontan lavil Jerizalèm.
39 Twazan apre sa, de nan esklav Chimeyi yo sove, y’ al lakay Akich, pitit gason Maka a, ki te wa lavil Gat. Yo vin di Chimeyi esklav li yo te lavil Gat.
40 Chimeyi leve, li sele bourik li, l’ al chache esklav li yo lakay Akich lavil Gat. Apre sa, li tounen lakay li ansanm ak esklav li yo.
41 Yo fè Salomon konnen Chimeyi te soti lavil Jerizalèm ale lavil Gat epi li tounen.
42 Wa a voye chache Chimeyi, li di l’ konsa: -Mwen te kwè m’ te fè ou pwomèt devan Seyè a pou ou pa janm kite lavil Jerizalèm? Mwen te tou pale ou. Jou w’a soti lavil Jerizalèm pou ale nenpòt ki kote, w’ap mouri. Eske ou pa t’ reponn mwen ou te dakò avè m’, ou t’ap fè tou sa mwen mande ou la?
43 Poukisa atò ou pa kenbe pwomès ou te fè devan Seyè a? Poukisa ou dezobeyi m’?
44 Ou konnen byen pwòp tou sa ou te fè David, papa m’. Seyè a pral pini ou pou sa.
45 Men, l’ap beni m’, mwen menm Salomon. L’ap fè gouvènman fanmi David la chita pou tout tan.
46 Apre sa, wa a pase Benaja, pitit Jeyoada a, lòd. Benaja soti, l’ al touye Chimeyi. Se konsa Chimeyi mouri. Depi lè sa a, Salomon te gen tout pouvwa a nan men l’.

1 David approchait du moment de sa mort, et il donna ses ordres à Salomon, son fils, en disant:
2 Je m’en vais par le chemin de toute la terre. Fortifie-toi, et sois un homme!
3 Observe les commandements de l’Éternel, ton Dieu, en marchant dans ses voies, et en gardant ses lois, ses ordonnances, ses jugements et ses préceptes, selon ce qui est écrit dans la loi de Moïse, afin que tu réussisses dans tout ce que tu feras et partout où tu te tourneras,
4 et afin que l’Éternel accomplisse cette parole qu’il a prononcée sur moi: Si tes fils prennent garde à leur voie, en marchant avec fidélité devant moi, de tout leur coeur, et de toute leur âme, tu ne manqueras jamais d’un successeur sur le trône d’Israël.
5 Tu sais ce que m’a fait Joab, fils de Tseruja, ce qu’il a fait à deux chefs de l’armée d’Israël, à Abner, fils de Ner, et à Amassa, fils de Jéther. Il les a tués; il a versé pendant la paix le sang de la guerre, et il a mis le sang de la guerre sur la ceinture qu’il avait aux reins et sur la chaussure qu’il avait aux pieds.
6 Tu agiras selon ta sagesse, et tu ne laisseras pas ses cheveux blancs descendre en paix dans le séjour des morts.
7 Tu traiteras avec bienveillance les fils de Barzillaï, le Galaadite, et ils seront de ceux qui se nourrissent de ta table; car ils ont agi de la même manière à mon égard, en venant au-devant de moi lorsque je fuyais Absalom, ton frère.
8 Voici, tu as près de toi Schimeï, fils de Guéra, Benjamite, de Bachurim. Il a prononcé contre moi des malédictions violentes le jour où j’allais à Mahanaïm. Mais il descendit à ma rencontre vers le Jourdain, et je lui jurai par l’Éternel, en disant: Je ne te ferai point mourir par l’épée.
9 Maintenant, tu ne le laisseras pas impuni; car tu es un homme sage, et tu sais comment tu dois le traiter. Tu feras descendre ensanglantés ses cheveux blancs dans le séjour des morts.
10 David se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré dans la ville de David.
11 Le temps que David régna sur Israël fut de quarante ans: à Hébron il régna sept ans, et à Jérusalem il régna trente-trois ans.
12 Salomon s’assit sur le trône de David, son père, et son règne fut très affermi.
13 Adonija, fils de Haggith, alla vers Bath Schéba, mère de Salomon. Elle lui dit: Viens-tu dans des intentions paisibles? Il répondit: Oui.
14 Et il ajouta: J’ai un mot à te dire. Elle dit: Parle!
15 Et il dit: Tu sais que la royauté m’appartenait, et que tout Israël portait ses regards sur moi pour me faire régner. Mais la royauté a tourné, et elle est échue à mon frère, parce que l’Éternel la lui a donnée.
16 Maintenant, je te demande une chose: ne me la refuse pas! Elle lui répondit: Parle!
17 Et il dit: Dis, je te prie, au roi Salomon-car il ne te le refusera pas-qu’il me donne pour femme Abischag, la Sunamite.
18 Bath Schéba dit: Bien! je parlerai pour toi au roi.
19 Bath Schéba se rendit auprès du roi Salomon, pour lui parler en faveur d’Adonija. Le roi se leva pour aller à sa rencontre, il se prosterna devant elle, et il s’assit sur son trône. On plaça un siège pour la mère du roi, et elle s’assit à sa droite.
20 Puis elle dit: J’ai une petite demande à te faire: ne me la refuse pas! Et le roi lui dit: Demande, ma mère, car je ne te refuserai pas.
21 Elle dit: Qu’Abischag, la Sunamite, soit donnée pour femme à Adonija, ton frère.
22 Le roi Salomon répondit à sa mère: Pourquoi demandes-tu Abischag, la Sunamite, pour Adonija? Demande donc la royauté pour lui, -car il est mon frère aîné, -pour lui, pour le sacrificateur Abiathar, et pour Joab, fils de Tseruja!
23 Alors le roi Salomon jura par l’Éternel, en disant: Que Dieu me traite dans toute sa rigueur, si ce n’est pas au prix de sa vie qu’Adonija a prononcé cette parole!
24 Maintenant, l’Éternel est vivant, lui qui m’a affermi et m’a fait asseoir sur le trône de David, mon père, et qui m’a fait une maison selon sa promesse! aujourd’hui Adonija mourra.
25 Et le roi Salomon envoya Benaja, fils de Jehojada, qui le frappa; et Adonija mourut.
26 Le roi dit ensuite au sacrificateur Abiathar: Va-t’en à Anathoth dans tes terres, car tu mérites la mort; mais je ne te ferai pas mourir aujourd’hui, parce que tu as porté l’arche du Seigneur l’Éternel devant David, mon père, et parce que tu as eu part à toutes les souffrances de mon père.
27 Ainsi Salomon dépouilla Abiathar de ses fonctions de sacrificateur de l’Éternel, afin d’accomplir la parole que l’Éternel avait prononcée sur la maison d’Éli à Silo.
28 Le bruit en parvint à Joab, qui avait suivi le parti d’Adonija, quoiqu’il n’eût pas suivi le parti d’Absalom. Et Joab se réfugia vers la tente de l’Éternel, et saisit les cornes de l’autel.
29 On annonça au roi Salomon que Joab s’était réfugié vers la tente de l’Éternel, et qu’il était auprès de l’autel. Et Salomon envoya Benaja, fils de Jehojada, en lui disant: Va, frappe-le.
30 Benaja arriva à la tente de l’Éternel, et dit à Joab: Sors! c’est le roi qui l’ordonne. Mais il répondit: Non! je veux mourir ici. Benaja rapporta la chose au roi, en disant: C’est ainsi qu’a parlé Joab, et c’est ainsi qu’il m’a répondu.
31 Le roi dit à Benaja: Fais comme il a dit, frappe-le, et enterre-le; tu ôteras ainsi de dessus moi et de dessus la maison de mon père le sang que Joab a répandu sans cause.
32 L’Éternel fera retomber son sang sur sa tête, parce qu’il a frappé deux hommes plus justes et meilleurs que lui et les a tués par l’épée, sans que mon père David le sût: Abner, fils de Ner, chef de l’armée d’Israël, et Amasa, fils de Jéther, chef de l’armée de Juda.
33 Leur sang retombera sur la tête de Joab et sur la tête de ses descendants à perpétuité; mais il y aura paix à toujours, de par l’Éternel, pour David, pour sa postérité, pour sa maison et pour son trône.
34 Benaja, fils de Jehojada, monta, frappa Joab, et le fit mourir. Il fut enterré dans sa maison, au désert.
35 Le roi mit à la tête de l’armée Benaja, fils de Jehojada, en remplacement de Joab, et il mit le sacrificateur Tsadok à la place d’Abiathar.
36 Le roi fit appeler Schimeï, et lui dit: Bâtis-toi une maison à Jérusalem; tu y demeureras, et tu n’en sortiras point pour aller de côté ou d’autre.
37 Sache bien que tu mourras le jour où tu sortiras et passeras le torrent de Cédron; ton sang sera sur ta tête.
38 Schimeï répondit au roi: C’est bien! ton serviteur fera ce que dit mon seigneur le roi. Et Schimeï demeura longtemps à Jérusalem.
39 Au bout de trois ans, il arriva que deux serviteurs de Schimeï s’enfuirent chez Akisch, fils de Maaca, roi de Gath. On le rapporta à Schimeï, en disant: Voici, tes serviteurs sont à Gath.
40 Schimeï se leva, sella son âne, et s’en alla à Gath chez Akisch pour chercher ses serviteurs. Schimeï donc s’en alla, et il ramena de Gath ses serviteurs.
41 On informa Salomon que Schimeï était allé de Jérusalem à Gath, et qu’il était de retour.
42 Le roi fit appeler Schimeï, et lui dit: Ne t’avais-je pas fait jurer par l’Éternel, et ne t’avais-je pas fait cette déclaration formelle: Sache bien que tu mourras le jour où tu sortiras pour aller de côté ou d’autre? Et ne m’as-tu pas répondu: C’est bien! j’ai entendu?
43 Pourquoi donc n’as-tu pas observé le serment de l’Éternel et l’ordre que je t’avais donné?
44 Et le roi dit à Schimeï: Tu sais au dedans de ton coeur tout le mal que tu as fait à David, mon père; l’Éternel fait retomber ta méchanceté sur ta tête.
45 Mais le roi Salomon sera béni, et le trône de David sera pour toujours affermi devant l’Éternel.
46 Et le roi donna ses ordres à Benaja, fils de Jehojada, qui sortit et frappa Schimeï; et Schimeï mourut. La royauté fut ainsi affermie entre les mains de Salomon.

1 Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying,
2 I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man;
3 And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:
4 That the Lord may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.
5 Moreover thou knowest also what Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captains of the hosts of Israel, unto Abner the son of Ner, and unto Amasa the son of Jether, whom he slew, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war upon his girdle that was about his loins, and in his shoes that were on his feet.
6 Do therefore according to thy wisdom, and let not his hoar head go down to the grave in peace.
7 But shew kindness unto the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be of those that eat at thy table: for so they came to me when I fled because of Absalom thy brother.
8 And, behold, thou hast with thee Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite of Bahurim, which cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim: but he came down to meet me at Jordan, and I sware to him by the Lord, saying, I will not put thee to death with the sword.
9 Now therefore hold him not guiltless: for thou art a wise man, and knowest what thou oughtest to do unto him; but his hoar head bring thou down to the grave with blood.
10 So David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.
11 And the days that David reigned over Israel were forty years: seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem.
12 Then sat Solomon upon the throne of David his father; and his kingdom was established greatly.
13 And Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon. And she said, Comest thou peaceably? And he said, Peaceably.
14 He said moreover, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And she said, Say on.
15 And he said, Thou knowest that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reign: howbeit the kingdom is turned about, and is become my brother’s: for it was his from the Lord.
16 And now I ask one petition of thee, deny me not. And she said unto him, Say on.
17 And he said, Speak, I pray thee, unto Solomon the king, (for he will not say thee nay,) that he give me Abishag the Shunammite to wife.
18 And Bathsheba said, Well; I will speak for thee unto the king.
19 Bathsheba therefore went unto king Solomon, to speak unto him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself unto her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a seat to be set for the king’s mother; and she sat on his right hand.
20 Then she said, I desire one small petition of thee; I pray thee, say me not nay. And the king said unto her, Ask on, my mother: for I will not say thee nay.
21 And she said, Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah thy brother to wife.
22 And king Solomon answered and said unto his mother, And why dost thou ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? ask for him the kingdom also; for he is mine elder brother; even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah.
23 Then king Solomon sware by the Lord, saying, God do so to me, and more also, if Adonijah have not spoken this word against his own life.
24 Now therefore, as the Lord liveth, which hath established me, and set me on the throne of David my father, and who hath made me an house, as he promised, Adonijah shall be put to death this day.
25 And king Solomon sent by the hand of Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he fell upon him that he died.
26 And unto Abiathar the priest said the king, Get thee to Anathoth, unto thine own fields; for thou art worthy of death: but I will not at this time put thee to death, because thou barest the ark of the Lord God before David my father, and because thou hast been afflicted in all wherein my father was afflicted.
27 So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest unto the Lord; that he might fulfil the word of the Lord, which he spake concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.
28 Then tidings came to Joab: for Joab had turned after Adonijah, though he turned not after Absalom. And Joab fled unto the tabernacle of the Lord, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.
29 And it was told king Solomon that Joab was fled unto the tabernacle of the Lord; and, behold, he is by the altar. Then Solomon sent Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, saying, Go, fall upon him.
30 And Benaiah came to the tabernacle of the Lord, and said unto him, Thus saith the king, Come forth. And he said, Nay; but I will die here. And Benaiah brought the king word again, saying, Thus said Joab, and thus he answered me.
31 And the king said unto him, Do as he hath said, and fall upon him, and bury him; that thou mayest take away the innocent blood, which Joab shed, from me, and from the house of my father.
32 And the Lord shall return his blood upon his own head, who fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and slew them with the sword, my father David not knowing thereof, to wit, Abner the son of Ner, captain of the host of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, captain of the host of Judah.
33 Their blood shall therefore return upon the head of Joab, and upon the head of his seed for ever: but upon David, and upon his seed, and upon his house, and upon his throne, shall there be peace for ever from the Lord.
34 So Benaiah the son of Jehoiada went up, and fell upon him, and slew him: and he was buried in his own house in the wilderness.
35 And the king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada in his room over the host: and Zadok the priest did the king put in the room of Abiathar.
36 And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said unto him, Build thee an house in Jerusalem, and dwell there, and go not forth thence any whither.
37 For it shall be, that on the day thou goest out, and passest over the brook Kidron, thou shalt know for certain that thou shalt surely die: thy blood shall be upon thine own head.
38 And Shimei said unto the king, The saying is good: as my lord the king hath said, so will thy servant do. And Shimei dwelt in Jerusalem many days.
39 And it came to pass at the end of three years, that two of the servants of Shimei ran away unto Achish son of Maachah king of Gath. And they told Shimei, saying, Behold, thy servants be in Gath.
40 And Shimei arose, and saddled his ass, and went to Gath to Achish to seek his servants: and Shimei went, and brought his servants from Gath.
41 And it was told Solomon that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath, and was come again.
42 And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said unto him, Did I not make thee to swear by the Lord, and protested unto thee, saying, Know for a certain, on the day thou goest out, and walkest abroad any whither, that thou shalt surely die? and thou saidst unto me, The word that I have heard is good.
43 Why then hast thou not kept the oath of the Lord, and the commandment that I have charged thee with?
44 The king said moreover to Shimei, Thou knowest all the wickedness which thine heart is privy to, that thou didst to David my father: therefore the Lord shall return thy wickedness upon thine own head;
45 And king Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the Lord for ever.
46 So the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; which went out, and fell upon him, that he died. And the kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon.
