1 Sou rèy wa David, vin gen yon gwo grangou pandan twazan yonn apre lòt. Lè sa a, David al mande Seyè a sa k’ap pase. Seyè a reponn li: -Se krim Sayil ak fanmi l’ yo te fè ki lakòz grangou sa a, paske yo te sasinen moun lavil Gabawon yo.
2 Moun lavil Gabawon yo pa t’ fanmi moun Izrayèl yo. Se yon ti rès nan moun peyi Amori moun Izrayèl yo te pran angajman yo t’ap toujou pwoteje. Men, Sayil te sitèlman cho pou defann enterè moun fanmi Izrayèl ak fanmi Jida yo, li te soti pou l’ te detwi yo.
3 Se konsa David voye chache yo, li mande yo: -Kisa m’ ka fè pou nou? Ki jan pou m’ repare tou sa nou sibi pou nou ka rale benediksyon sou pèp Seyè a?
4 Yo reponn li: -Sa nou gen pou n’ regle ak Sayil ansanm ak rès fanmi li an, se pa yon keksyon lò ak ajan, ni nou pa ta renmen touye pesonn nan peyi Izrayèl. David mande yo: -Manyè di m’ sa nou vle m’ fè pou nou.
5 Yo reponn li: -Sayil te soti pou disparèt nou. Li te fè lide pou l’ te touye nou nèt pou l’ pa kite yonn nan nou vivan nan tout peyi Izrayèl la.
6 Enben, renmèt nou sèt gason nan fanmi li an pou nou ka pann yo devan Seyè a nan lavil Gabawon, lavil Sayil la menm, nonm Seyè a te chwazi pou wa a. David reponn yo: -M’ap ban nou yo.
7 David pa ba yo Mefibochèt, pitit Jonatan an, pitit pitit Sayil la, poutèt sèman li menm ak Jonatan, pitit Sayil la, yo te fè devan Bondye.
8 Men, li pran Amoni ak Mefibochèt, de pitit gason Rispa, pitit Ayi a, te fè pou Sayil, ansanm ak senk pitit gason Merab, pitit Sayil la, te fè pou Adriyèl, pitit gason Bazilayi, moun lavil Meola a.
9 Li lage yo nan men moun Gabawon yo ki pann yo sou yon ti mòn devan Seyè a. Yo tou lesèt mouri ansanm. Lè sa a, se te fen sezon prentan, yo te fèk konmanse rekòt lòj la.
10 Apre sa, Rispa, pitit Ayi a, pran yon rad sak, li vlope kò l’ ladan l’, li al chita sou wòch kote kadav yo te ye a. Li rete la depi nan konmansman rekòt la jouk sezon lapli a rive. Lajounen li t’ap chase zwazo ki te vle vin poze sou kadav yo. Lannwit li t’ap kouri dèyè bèt nan bwa ki te vle vin devore yo.
11 Y’ al rapòte bay David sa Rispa, yonn nan fanm kay Sayil yo, t’ap fè a.
12 David al pran zosman Sayil ansanm ak zosman Jonatan nan men moun lavil Jabès yo nan peyi Galarad. (Moun sa yo te al vòlò kadav Sayil ak Jonatan sou plas piblik lavil Bèt-Chean kote moun Filisti yo te pann yo lè yo te fin touye Sayil sou mòn Gilboa a.)
13 David pran zosman Sayil ansanm ak zosman Jonatan yo, li ranmase zosman sèt mesye yo te pann yo tou.
14 Lèfini, yo antere yo ansanm ak zosman Sayil ak zosman Jonatan yo nan tonm Kich, papa Sayil la, lavil Zela nan pòsyon peyi ki pou branch fanmi Benjamen yo. Yo fè tou sa wa a te bay lòd fè a. Apre sa, Bondye tande lapriyè yo pou peyi a.
15 Lagè pete ankò ant moun Filisti yo ak moun peyi Izrayèl yo. David desann ak sòlda li yo, li al goumen ak moun Filisti yo. Pandan y’ap goumen konsa, David santi l’ bouke.
16 Yon potorik gason bèl wotè yo te rele Ichbibenòb, moun laras Arafa yo, fè lide pou l’ touye David. Li te gen yon frenn an kwiv ki te peze sèt liv edmi konsa ak yon nepe tou nèf mare nan ren li.
17 Men, Abichayi, pitit gason Sewouja a, vin pote wa a sekou. Li atake moun Filisti a, li touye l’. Lè sa a, moun David yo fè wa a pwomèt pou li pa janm vin nan lagè avè yo ankò. Yo di l’: -Ou se espwa pèp Izrayèl la. Nou pa vle pèdi ou.
18 Apre sa, te gen yon lòt batay ankò avè moun Filisti yo lavil Gòb. Lè sa a, Sibekayi, moun lavil Ousa, touye Saf, yon lòt potorik gason nan ras moun Arafa yo.
19 Pandan yon lòt batay avèk moun Filisti yo ankò nan menm lavil Gòb la, Elanan, pitit gason Jari, moun lavil Betleyèm, touye Golyat, yon moun lavil Gat. Frenn Golyat la te gen yon manch menm gwosè ak yon gwo manch pilon.
20 vin gen yon lòt batay ankò lavil Gat. Lè sa a, te gen yon sòlda bèl wotè ki te gen sis dwèt nan chak men, sis zòtèy nan chak pye. Se te yonn nan ras moun Arafa yo.
21 Li t’ap pase moun pèp Izrayèl yo nan betiz. Jonatan, pitit gason Chimeya, frè David la, touye l’.
22 Kat sòlda peyi Filisti sa yo te moun bèl wotè, potorik gason, nan ras moun Arafa yo lavil Gat. David ak moun pa li yo touye yo.

1 Du temps de David, il y eut une famine qui dura trois ans. David chercha la face de l’Éternel, et l’Éternel dit: C’est à cause de Saül et de sa maison sanguinaire, c’est parce qu’il a fait périr les Gabaonites.
2 Le roi appela les Gabaonites pour leur parler. -Les Gabaonites n’étaient point d’entre les enfants d’Israël, mais c’était un reste des Amoréens; les enfants d’Israël s’étaient liés envers eux par un serment, et néanmoins Saül avait voulu les frapper, dans son zèle pour les enfants d’Israël et de Juda. –
3 David dit aux Gabaonites: Que puis-je faire pour vous, et avec quoi ferai-je expiation, afin que vous bénissiez l’héritage de l’Éternel?
4 Les Gabaonites lui répondirent: Ce n’est pas pour nous une question d’argent et d’or avec Saül et avec sa maison, et ce n’est pas à nous qu’il appartient de faire mourir personne en Israël. Et le roi dit: Que voulez-vous donc que je fasse pour vous?
5 Ils répondirent au roi: Puisque cet homme nous a consumés, et qu’il avait le projet de nous détruire pour nous faire disparaître de tout le territoire d’Israël,
6 qu’on nous livre sept hommes d’entre ses fils, et nous les pendrons devant l’Éternel à Guibea de Saül, l’élu de l’Éternel. Et le roi dit: Je les livrerai.
7 Le roi épargna Mephiboscheth, fils de Jonathan, fils de Saül, à cause du serment qu’avaient fait entre eux, devant l’Éternel, David et Jonathan, fils de Saül.
8 Mais le roi prit les deux fils que Ritspa, fille d’Ajja, avait enfantés à Saül, Armoni et Mephiboscheth, et les cinq fils que Mérab, fille de Saül, avait enfantés à Adriel de Mehola, fils de Barzillaï;
9 et il les livra entre les mains des Gabaonites, qui les pendirent sur la montagne, devant l’Éternel. Tous les sept périrent ensemble; ils furent mis à mort dans les premiers jours de la moisson, au commencement de la moisson des orges.
10 Ritspa, fille d’Ajja, prit un sac et l’étendit sous elle contre le rocher, depuis le commencement de la moisson jusqu’à ce que la pluie du ciel tombât sur eux; et elle empêcha les oiseaux du ciel de s’approcher d’eux pendant le jour, et les bêtes des champs pendant la nuit.
11 On informa David de ce qu’avait fait Ritspa, fille d’Ajja, concubine de Saül.
12 Et David alla prendre les os de Saül et les os de Jonathan, son fils, chez les habitants de Jabès en Galaad, qui les avaient enlevés de la place de Beth Schan, où les Philistins les avaient suspendus lorsqu’ils battirent Saül à Guilboa.
13 Il emporta de là les os de Saül et les os de Jonathan, son fils; et l’on recueillit aussi les os de ceux qui avaient été pendus.
14 On enterra les os de Saül et de Jonathan, son fils, au pays de Benjamin, à Tséla, dans le sépulcre de Kis, père de Saül. Et l’on fit tout ce que le roi avait ordonné. Après cela, Dieu fut apaisé envers le pays.
15 Les Philistins firent encore la guerre à Israël. David descendit avec ses serviteurs, et ils combattirent les Philistins. David était fatigué.
16 Et Jischbi Benob, l’un des enfants de Rapha, eut la pensée de tuer David; il avait une lance du poids de trois cents sicles d’airain, et il était ceint d’une épée neuve.
17 Abischaï, fils de Tseruja, vint au secours de David, frappa le Philistin et le tua. Alors les gens de David jurèrent, en lui disant: Tu ne sortiras plus avec nous pour combattre, et tu n’éteindras pas la lampe d’Israël.
18 Il y eut encore, après cela, une bataille à Gob avec les Philistins. Alors Sibbecaï, le Huschatite, tua Saph, qui était un des enfants de Rapha.
19 Il y eut encore une bataille à Gob avec les Philistins. Et Elchanan, fils de Jaaré Oreguim, de Bethléhem, tua Goliath de Gath, qui avait une lance dont le bois était comme une ensouple de tisserand.
20 Il y eut encore une bataille à Gath. Il s’y trouva un homme de haute taille, qui avait six doigts à chaque main et à chaque pied, vingt-quatre en tout, et qui était aussi issu de Rapha.
21 Il jeta un défi à Israël; et Jonathan, fils de Schimea, frère de David, le tua.
22 Ces quatre hommes étaient des enfants de Rapha à Gath. Ils périrent par la main de David et par la main de ses serviteurs.

1 Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David enquired of the Lord. And the Lord answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.
2 And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)
3 Wherefore David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and wherewith shall I make the atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the Lord?
4 And the Gibeonites said unto him, We will have no silver nor gold of Saul, nor of his house; neither for us shalt thou kill any man in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say, that will I do for you.
5 And they answered the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the coasts of Israel,
6 Let seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto the Lord in Gibeah of Saul, whom the Lord did choose. And the king said, I will give them.
7 But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the Lord‘s oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.
8 But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite:
9 And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the Lord: and they fell all seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest.
10 And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.
11 And it was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.
12 And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabeshgilead, which had stolen them from the street of Bethshan, where the Philistines had hanged them, when the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa:
13 And he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged.
14 And the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the sepulchre of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was intreated for the land.
15 Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint.
16 And Ishbibenob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David.
17 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel.
18 And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which was of the sons of the giant.
19 And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaareoregim, a Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.
20 And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.
21 And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimeah the brother of David slew him.
22 These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
